The Andorian Empire
The Andorian empire conquered all of Thaeria around 200 years before the fifth and current age, in fact it was this empire that established the Auran calendar as the standard for the continent.
For some time the empire lived in relative peace, though the people lived tumultuously under its yolk there was no war amongst the countries of Thaeria for 1500 years, and few from beyond would challenge the great Andorian empire. In the end it was the primitive barbarian orc hordes of Ormsthrall that spelt the beginning of the end. Orcish raids were random and small but frequent and troublesome, it was decided that a power like the empire should not have to put up with it and so they took the war to Ormsthrall.
The war went well for the Empire, though they lost many soldiers and ships they entirely sank the Orchish fleets, sacked and burnt their cities and sent the Orcs fleeing into the mountains. Unfortunately the reduced military presence in Thaeria gave those who would seek to leave the empire a wide open window for revolt. It began in Veelanavia, who regained the throne in a matter of months. Inevitably news of the revolution travelled throughout the continent and by 1349 every country in the empire was rebelling, even going so far as to support each other's efforts. By 1355 it was over, the empire had fallen.
In hindsight it is thought of as a golden age, at least objectively speaking, as it was the least tumultuous political period in Thaeria's history, and many scientific and arcane breakthroughs were made in this time. But viewed subjectively through the tails and stories of the era it was clear that the Empires rule was unforgiving and unkind to those who were not native to Andoria, and though the wealthy often did prosper, the poor did not, and rebel factions fought for freedom throughout the occupation.
