Nyotep - Guardian of the Anua Delta (Ny-oh-tep)

Nyotep is one of the gods most heavily invested in the lives of mortal men. Her mortal appearance and involvement in the lives of sapient beings cause many to question whether she is truly a deity at all though, at least by its mythological meaning, for no one would question her incredible power.   She lives on the border between the deserts of Tanjoroa and the southern plains of Equaropia in a citadel of her own making. This city is located amidst the Anua Delta, an area of only a few miles where most of the meaningful under and overground rivers and water sources which create the Anua river converge. This great river flows northwest from the Delta to the ocean, and it is along it's banks that almost all of mortal civilisation in the great desert lives.   Amongst the inhabitants of the desert, Nyotep is revered as a god, even if many of those who do recognise she is probably more likely to be an Uhrdani. They pay tribute to her in various ways and pledge their military organisations to her at any time she needs them. Between them and the mystical guardian creatures known as Amun-ti which pledge themselves to her and live in the citadel, she is capable of raising a formidable army, though she rarely does.   2000 years ago the Yuan-ti, a race of humanoids living in the Grenmire rainforest attempted to invade and sack the cities of the Anua. Nyotep led her armies against them and a war lasting several years ensued. The Yuan-ti had long since lost the fight but their hubris knew no bounds and they continued to throw everything they had at Nyotep, convinced if they could defeat her then the rest of the Anua's residence would fall to blade or servitude in short order.   At the final Battle of Ithil the Yuan-ti were eventually successful and Nyotep fell, but not before decimating their final remaining army. The cost to them was too great, their civilisation was all but extinct and the survivors of the Anua had no trouble defeating those few that remained, but peace was short lived, for mere weeks after, the Lich lords of the unending deserts to the south, long since driven out by Nyotep, returned. What followed was 40 years of darkness for the people of Tanjoroa, enslaved at the hands of the Lich lords of Everblight their fates were little better, if not worse, than they would have been at the hands of the Yuan-ti.   Almost 40 years to the day after her death Nyotep returned, she came from the desert with her new born horde of Amun-ti warriors and cast the Lich lords out, driving them south back to the relative safety of Everblight. She retook her throne at the Anua Delta and has been watching over the great river ever since.
