Howling Abyss

The howling abyss is a large ravine stretching for several miles in Thahcia. It plunges deep into the earth, probably all the way down to the underdark, but violent and unpredictable winds blowing from the depths make flight in and around the chasm almost impossible, and climbing extremely treacherous.
Despite this there are regular expeditions into it's depths to explore the myriad caves that dot it's sheer walls, as these caves are rich sources of gems. The specialist equipment and high level of training and salary demanded by the miners are well worth it for the vast wealth that can be found in the depths, as long as they can get back out...
