Gloomkin AKA Changeling

Gloomkin originate from the Shadowfell, but at some point in their history they learnt to overcome their aversion to the atmosphere of Erde (The prime material plane some posit whatever it is that allows them to change their physical appearance is part of the same quirk of genetics that allows their bodies to adjust to the air of both planes.
This adaptability means they are one of the only mortal creatures that can comfortably exist in both realms as they don't suffer the rapid ageing that natives of Erde experience when in the Shadow fell , nor the slow necrotising effect natives of the Shadow fell experience if they spend too long in Erde.
Their life expectancy is somewhat mysterious, in part because of their rarity and the many varying prejudices, but also because they seem to differ from person to person, ranging from anywhere between 50 and 200 years. It is theorized that the longer they spend in Erde and the less often they change forms, the longer they live due to their slowed metabolism
Gloomkin are commonly referred to as Changelings throughout Erde. Though it is not an affectionate term, it is however more tame than many of the names used to describe them by the residents of Erde, many of whom have a deep mistrust of the Gloomkin people.
