The Watchers
The Watchers were false priests of Chémah who led the people in the ways of sorcery. Under Anan's rule, they kept the majority of humans as prisoners of idolatry and moral corruption for centuries. Of all Chémah's followers, they were themselves most corrupt, being the chief instruments through which the Fallen Luminaries enacted evil.
Structure
The cult was comprised of six members. Each one acted independently of the others and was influenced by an individual Fallen Luminary.
Public Agenda
They ruled Teyvél under Anan as watchers of the people, reporting directly to him on their actions.
History
At the very beginning of the Dark Winter, six Fallen Luminaries were appointed by Anan to be his administers of Chémah. They deceived six humans and set them up as false high priests, to preach the delusion of sorcery among the people.
These false priests were named the Watchers because, apart from working at Anan's temple, they kept watch over humanity to find and report dissidents, via scrying glasses. As sorcerers, the Watchers had the ability to cast spells and were made immortal. The price of their power and immortality, however, was that their hearts became hardened beyond repentance, thus forever dooming them to the flames of Shégol. Shrouded in mystery by their long history, the names of these men and women had long been forgotten by the time of Emeth's coming.
After Emeth's resurrection, the Watchers waged war against him alongside Anan and the Dark Luminaries. However, they were defeated and captured. Emeth offered them the opportunity to repent and follow the true light, but they refused, and were subsequently killed. The six demons who appointed them however, retreated to their strongholds in the island city-states and continued to have great influence there.
Disbandment
The Watchers were defeated alongside Anan in his battle with Emeth, ending their time of deceiving mankind.
