Jerua
Jerua is the captiol of mainland Teyvél and is home to the High Temple, the headquarters of the Emethan Order. It lies on the eastern shore of the continent and possesses several ports for trade vessels and travelers from the island city-states.
Demographics
Jerua has a large upperclass population, being the capitol of the nation. The wealthiest of the Jerusans live in private villas either by the sea or near the Valley of Shushan.
Located near the equator of the land, the indigenous ethnic group of that region possess an olive-tone complexion, or darker. People of lighter skin tones (most of them Emethan Students) reside in Jerua as well, but at a smaller degreee than the native ethnic group.
Government
Jerua is the capital of Teyvélian government, which is run by an elected monarch. However, inter-city affairs are primarily dealt with by a triumvirate of city magistrates, who are appointed by the current monarch.
Industry & Trade
Residing by the sea Jerua is rife with fishing, making much of its profit in fishing trade. Jerua's most significant industry is that of Scarlet Lily farming.
Infrastructure
Jerua is equipped with several harbors for sea trade and civillian transport to and from the island city-states. In the Jerua's early days, the humans created a network of tunnels in the mountain as places to live. With the overthrow of Anan, these tunnels have long since been abandoned.
History
Jerua first developed under the rule of Anan. Due to the unending brutal winter during his reign, the enslaved humans built their homes into the face of the nearby mountains, over time creating an extensive underground network of passageways. Anan established the city as his capital, forcing the humans to build an idolatrous temple to worship him in. After Emeth overthrew Anan, the city opted for an elective monarchy. With the seasons being restored to their original design, Jerua was able to grow into the valley between the mountains and the sea, its citizens eventually abandoning their mountainside origins altogether. As the Teyvélian people expanded, Jerua eventually became the capital of the nation.
Architecture
Typical Teyvélian architectural style somewhat resembles oriental architecture, and Jerua is no exception.
Geography
Jerua extends from the foothills of the Har mountains to the shores of the eastern sea. Jerua possesses a temperate climate. Rain is abundant in fall and spring, but comes in gentle showers, rather than torrential downpours. Snow often falls during winter, though bilzzards never develop.
Natural Resources
Residing near a mountain range gives Jerua the perk of possessing valuable ore minerals, such as gold, and silver. As a result of this, Jerua is one of the wealthiest cities in all of Teyvél. In addition to ore, Jerua's close proximity to the sea, also gives it the benefit of fish as a resource. Jerua's most prized commodity however, are the Scarlet Lilies, a rare flower whose delicate makeup and high maintenance restricts its indigenous growth to the Valley of Shushan, just south of Jerua. These flowers are especially valued among the Emethans for their use in the Weeks of Mourning and Jubilee.
