Chémah

Chémah is a Teyvélian term for magic, coined by its creator Anan. The term itself means "Lovely Poison". Though it has fallen out of mainstream culture on the mainland, it is still largely practiced in some of the island city-states.

Effect

Chémah was designed to function as a spiritual snare for humanity. Humans that studied Chémah under The Watchers would experience a spiritual "high" similar to drug-induced euphoria. This experience would keep them decadent and indulged with cheap pleasure, preventing the vast majority from rising up and fighting against Anan.

Side/Secondary Effects

An intentional side effect of Chémah was that as a human engaged in it more, more of their evil nature was magnified. This self corruption would eventually reach a point in which the user would be beyond persuasion of turning back to Emeth, their free will turned against him irreversibly.

Source

The source of all witchcraft in Teyvél are the Dark Luminaries that rebelled with Anan against the The Shalotheis.
