Vipers Organization in Teutspedia | World Anvil

Vipers

The Vipers are an almost exclusively aristocratic political faction within Teutonia. Not all aristocrats are Vipers but all Vipers will have some noble bloodline. Vipers are monarchists and believe in the aristocracy. They consider themselves to be superior to other political parties and seek to educate and protect those within Teutonia with their superior ideals and example. They are fiercely loyal to the Nation and those who have been chosen by the gods to rule.

The head of the Vipers is usually the highest ranking Viper within Teutonia. In the past, this has been the Viper kings and queens of the nation, or those leading the Reichstag when the monarch has been of another party. Viper military leaders tend to be excellent tacticians, having spent years training in the arts of strategy and leadership. Vipers expect to lead by right of their position and never expect their authority to be questioned openly. Viper politicians are calculating and efficient orators who will beat an opponent down with rhetoric, reason and, if necessary, ridicule.

Public Agenda

Vipers are loyal to whoever sits on the throne of Teutonia, as they are fiercely loyal to the nation and its gods. If asked, however, they would far prefer a king or a queen to rule than a commoner. The Vipers believe that leadership depends on bloodline and birth and that one is simply born to rule. Members of the Reichstag are raised to their status by deeds to the nation and this is handed down through bloodlines. The more noble blood a person has, the more influence they are likely to wield in the Reichstag. Vipers believe in social courtesy, courtly manners and people knowing their place. It is possible through acts of valour and great deeds for a commoner to be raised to the position of Lord or Lady. Recognition such as this is of great importance to a Viper.

History

For most of Teutonian history, the monarchy has come from Viper houses. Whether a king or queen was fit to rule was immaterial as long as they were from the right bloodline. They maintained the upper hand throughout most of the various Serpent Wars due to their ability to raise levies from the common people who, often, followed them without question.
