Era beginning/end
The dragons and giants that broke free from Ysgard were successful in their invasion of the Material Plane and have made it inhospitable for other life.
Suffice it to say the invasion of the dragons and giants was a success. We certainly won't be sending any larvae to the Material Plane anytime soon with those behemoths running amuck. I can't believe Oghma didn't see this coming! It would have been bad enough to have just one of any such creatures in their world, but entire societies? Preposterous. I do hope they don't last, but I must commend that handiwork of the stone giants. And I'll credit them that they're not all violent brutes (although it does seem that all frost giants are rather brutish). The good thing is they're all rather easy to spot, and the situation seems to be thus:
The hill giants have populated the, well, hills and plains most numerously, and with their intellect have raised great cities and livestock. To the chagrin of Lyir and Umberlee, the storm giants have claimed the seas as their own, but I understand from Lyir the waters are in much turmoil. The cloud giants have claimed the highest peaks of the mountains they can, while the stone giants have spread out across the range crafting fine masonry and the like everywhere they go (admittedly I think we could get along with these two, and they could even impress Gond). The proud fire giants have claimed the southern desert while the barbaric frost giants claim everything north of the mountains. Strangely they seem to have entirely avoided Silvanus's domains along the west coast - perhaps the trees grow too close together making it claustrophobic. And then of course the dragons have fought amongst each other and the giants for the premiere roosts, caves, and what have you. This is the first I've dealt with dragons and those that consider themselves metallic seem of noble virtue and good spirit, even if a little wily at times. It's the chromatic that worry me - they seem to hunger simply for chaos and prey upon whatever poor souls they can. We'll really have to do something about those chromatic dragons before we can introduce the larva to this environment…perhaps we can come to an accord with some of the metallic dragons, or maybe even the giants…but that's enough musing for now. It's nearly time for (yet another) council to discuss these very matters. I'll bring up these possibilities for alliance.
