Human
Humans are the resilient baseline of the world of Tetraverium; built to be subjugated. Diverse, short-lived, and spunky, their determination and tenacity often helps them achieve more than anyone expected in a universe that has no interest in them.
Origin
Like the other Origin Lines, the first Humans were created by divine magic during the first few thousand years of the world’s existence. They were the first species created by Zanu. Some myths about their creation emphasize the turmoil Zanu underwent to perfect his early designs. Others claim humans were lumps of celestial clay that just so happened to come alive, explaining their average nature. Zanu himself has never demonstrated much interest in Humans, so there remains no confirmed story of their creation.Description
The Humans of Tetraverium come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They traditionally stand from 5 to 6 feet tall, and between 100 to 200 pounds. They have a lifespan of roughly one hundred years - perfectly average. Humans come in all sorts of varieties, shades, and appearances. Their skin color, hair color, and facial structures vary across Tetraverium, from the olive-skinned individuals of Selestia to the pale skinned individuals of Gierelend, to the tanned and darker skinned folk of Domufuerte.Socialization
Across thousands of years, Humans have struggled to find a place in the world. There are no great Human Kingdoms to speak of - no great Empires to their name. Humans rarely cluster together in groups; instead, they find themselves fitting in where they can. Their ability to fit in with otherwise-cloistered and insular societies is impressive; a human is as comfortable amid the alien society of the Elves as they are the nomadic life of a Triodus Goliath. Humans simply adapt; it is their greatest skill. Humans don’t live very long. Human ancestries are often cut short, and rarely are the stories of ancestors carried down with great efficiency. Instead, most humans focus on achieving what they can in their own life. For what it’s worth - most other species find themselves impressed with what Humans manage to achieve in such a short time with such a limited lifespan. In the early history of Tetraverium, Human ‘subjugation’ was a common occurrence. Some of the earliest wonders of Selestia were built on the backs of Humans and other races. As the years went on, this oppression would be looked down upon, and the disenfranchisement of Humans and other peoples would be phased out. By the era of the Holy Kingdom, it was essentially extinct.Living in Tetraverium
Humans are welcomed in most societies with open arms, as they are rarely recognized as a threat. Humans can be found just as commonly among the streets of Olympia as they can within the hallowed halls of the Elf Lords. With only a hundred years to their name, Humans make good use of the time they have. Adventurers, explorers, and revolutionaries, Humans are often pushing the boundaries of their society. And though they may lack a unified cultural identity, they make up for it in their sheer determination.Subraces
