Cult of the Chained God
The Cult of the Chained God:
Leader: Johann Hiedler, male human, the very first Kaiser of Saxony, built his empire on the blood of elves and carved out a horrible legacy through genocide and destruction. He obtained lichhood through the sheer amount of death he caused and now it has even granted him the title of leader of the Cult of the Chained god, he was defeated by the Heroes during the battle of the Dread Harbor but since his phylactery was never found, he has returned to lead his God's flock once more.
Champion: Lloyd Lionel, male human, an elusive, animinalistic and predatory creature from the Devastation. Lloyd Marshal went missing after hunting down a bunch of elven mages, returning only recently covered in necklaces of brown elf ears dried like jerky, rambling about these "dark" elves living all over Vinland and how feeding on their corpses kept him alive, kept him powerful. He is very socially awkward, unsure what to do in non-combat situations and during those situations he loses all semblances of humanity as he acts without passion, with only the desire to kill and feed.
Economy: Gustavo Gaviera, male human, a powerful crimelord hailing from a even more mysterious land south of Vinland, where his ancestors were taken as slaves during the Devastation. He has managed to build an empire from the ground up using addictive drugs to control his former elven masters, at least until an empire from the north destroyed it all and forced him to flee back to Europa where he is seeking to sell his drugs and wares to a new market to get back at his lost home.
Magic: Amina Toberesu, female human, a witch doctor from Cafka, powerful, eccentric and often seen dealing with evil entities and spirits, she rules her tribes with an iron fist and is the main force opposing the Caliphate's expansion into her home continent, even as she sends out her warriors with spells and hexes to conquer lesser tribes and force them to fight as slaves in her armies. Its unknown what she truly believes but its clear she venerates Martius at least and thanks to her power and bloodlust, she is granted this position.
Military: Taisho Meiji, Male human, a disgraced emperor from somewhere in Aradia, he led his people on a genocidal purge of Aradia until a coalition of nations put him down and forced him into exile, he found his way to the Dread Harbor with hatred alone as his guide, quickly he rose to lead the armies of the cultists with fanatical devotion to their cause and suicidal fervor that shocks their foes and sees them win battles regardless of casualities suffered.
Diplomatic: John Kelly, male human, a charismatic traveler from around the world, everywhere he goes he helps humans resist the oppression they suffer and rise up against the tyrants responsible. He was called personally to this position by the cult who hope to use him to a similar effect in Europa, despite the fact that such problems dont really exist here, he is eager to at least stir up some trouble and try.
Religion: Yeshua, female human, Not much is known about this mysterious nun, she rarely leaves the dread harbor and rarely even gives sermons, but its clear she alone speaks for the exact will of Martius and has a bond far closer than anyone else
Base: The Dread Harbor stands as a grim reminder of the horrors that took place there almost five decades ago. The fjord itself is a towering natural wonder, with steep cliffs and rocky outcroppings lining the water's edge. It is said that on a clear day, one can see all the way across Europa, the very curvature of the world itself on display. But that beauty belies the true nature of the place. The water is still, and a pervasive mist hangs over the harbor. It is an eerie feeling to stand on the shore, to feel the damp air and smell the salty sea, and yet to see so little beyond a few yards. The mist swirls and eddies, and it is easy to imagine specters and phantoms lurking just beyond the reach of vision. The ruins of the tower at the center of the harbor are the most striking feature of the battlefield. Once a mighty stronghold, it has been split in two, the jagged edges of stone jutting out from the wreckage like the broken teeth of some immense beast. The walls and battlements that once encircled the harbor have crumbled into rubble, with only the occasional section standing sentinel over the devastation. The water itself is a graveyard of shattered ships, rusted metal and broken masts jutting up from the depths. It is said that the ships that lie here once belonged to the forces of Martius, sunk by the combined might of the Europa forces in a last-ditch effort to stop the cult's advance. But despite the devastation, there is a sense of awe to the place. The scale of the destruction is such that it is hard not to be impressed by it, to feel the weight of history pressing down upon you. The Dread Harbor is a place where legends were made and where heroes died, a place where the fate of the world was decided.
Goals: The Cult of Martius is a dangerous and fanatical organization that has a singular goal: the return of their god and the eradication of all non-human races. Martius created humanity and lead them to victory in their fight for freedom until he was defeated by the trickery of Addus. Again he rose centuries later thanks to the efforts of the cult only to be defeated again, this time by the Heroes of Europa. The cult seeks to bring Martius back to the world and restore humanity to their rightful place as rulers of all. In their quest for power, the cult seeks to take revenge on the non-human races that enslaved and mistreated humanity in ages past. They view the other races as inferior and believe that they should be eradicated completely. To this end, they carry out genocidal campaigns against non-human populations, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake. The ultimate goal of the cult is to establish a new human empire, one that will be ruled directly by Martius himself. They see themselves as the chosen ones, the only true heirs to the power of their god. To achieve this, they are willing to use any means necessary, from assassination and sabotage to outright war. Their beliefs and methods have made the Cult of Martius a hated and feared organization throughout Europa. Their acts of terror and destruction have caused many to fear for their lives and the safety of their loved ones. The cult's fanatical devotion to their god and their willingness to use any means necessary to achieve their goals make them a formidable enemy to anyone who opposes them. However, after the most recent defeat of Martius, they have not been heard from since, and now remain only as dark stories, rumors and whispers of a barbaric and bygone age.
History: The Cult of Martius was founded during a time when humanity was enslaved by other races. They started as an underground movement fighting for freedom and were known for their bravery and determination. Eventually, they became more organized and powerful, and launched a massive assault that came to be known as the Devastation. This event destroyed the old empires and set the world back centuries, but it also succeeded in freeing humanity and reducing the other races to mere minorities. After the Devastation, the cult was lost without their leader, Martius, who had been imprisoned by the trickster god Addus. However, they slowly rebuilt their strength and power, corrupting other humans to their genocidal world view. The cult was finally ready centuries later to launch a new campaign that almost saw all of Europa crushed before them at the battle of the Dread Harbor. However, they were defeated when Martius was once again defeated, this time by the heroes of Europa. Despite their defeat, the cult left a lasting impact on the world. Many humans who had been swayed by their ideology continued to harbor resentment towards the other races, and some even secretly continued the cult's activities. However, over time, the cult faded away into myth, with no evidence of their activities in the years following their defeat. Nonetheless, their legacy lives on, and their dark story serves as a warning of the dangers of extremism and hatred.
