Tetheril

Tetheril is a planet, a single world in a seemingly empty universe. It is a legendary dragon that once upon a time sacrificed their body to build a refuge for the dragonfolk. It also is a chronicle of humankind at the edge of annihilation, and of their long journey to rebuild was now is lost. It is a history in several parts that retells the Age of the Dragonspawn, created for an unknown end, a riddle about the ebbs and flows of magic they need to solve before it is to late. It is a saga spanning thousands of years about the last hope in a war already lost.   But first and foremost, Tetheril is my attempt to create a world that takes all kinds of inspiration from different sources and try to bring those together in a meaningful way. It was spawned by a single sentence I stumbled upon back in 2004 in the Eberron Campaign Setting book: If it exists in D&D, it has a place in Eberron. First, I wanted to disagree with that sentence because I didn't think you could do that without destroying any logic that might hold the setting together. but then I started to see it as a challenge. Saying "No" is easy. Too easy, perhaps, and it might limit your creativity more than it should.   In this vein, Tetheril is me stealing things from all over the place, making them my own, putting my own stamp to it and thereby hopefully creating something that is just a bit more than a complete rehash. I also hope that it enables me to tell stories in it, to run games in it, and maybe I'll even be able to open it for a wider audience to use as background for their own stories. but first things first and one step after another. This here is just the beginning...
