Chronos

Chronos, a picture in time.
— Chronos Slogan

Chronos was a popular magazine that emerged during the early Orbital Age, when the Rings were new and communication hadn't been quite figured out yet.

Common Contents

Chronos covered a variety of topics throughout the centuries of the Orbital Age, but stuck to mainly planetary news, famous figures of history, and interesting events found in the depths of the Visctherian Analogs.

Historical Headings

Several headings on Chronos have made history, especially considering their content. While few headings were not about people, there were some that were so memorable they became part of the cultural zeitgeist of Visctheria.

Prism Link Pandemonium

by sunnybirdboi via MidJourney

When Prism Links were first being instituted into the connections of the Orbital Rings, a riot nearly broke out when the connections went down for the first time. All Prism Links in the area began to crash unexpectedly, including personal handheld devices. Suddenly unable to reach their loved ones, people began to panic at the lack of communication.

The IAS (Interworld Arcanist Society) did their best to fix the connection as fast as possible, discovering a literal bug in the program: A small beetle had tangled itself in the wires near the first port, sending waves of effects across the Rings.

A Study in Language: the Featherspoon Method

Crankust Featherspoon was the one who established written language in Priquish thousands of years before the end of the Heroic Age. Chronos took an entire issue to remember his life and work, celebrating his hard efforts to preserve culture and legend in the violent country.

Establishment of the IAS

The Interworld Arcanist Society was a new idea, something made from an old organization known simply as the Arcanists. While the Arcanists focused on discovery of new knowledge, the IAS focused on preservation of old knowledge, and developed a new technology known as the Visctherian Analogs. The Analogs were a massive database that allowed technology and information to be perfectly scanned and recorded, creating a massive leap forward in informational science after the Impact of the Strutheo Star.

Famous Features

Chronos is known for its featured figures on its cover, and some of these figures have only gained fame after their faces are shown on the cover of the widely distributed magazine.

Ayda Northana

Ayda Northana was an Arcanist credited with documenting key information about all twenty-three species of Godsent, as well as discovering no less than seven types of the creatures on her own. Her massive contribution to the study of the creatures when the field was still in its infancy helped move the research along to an almost complete understanding before the Visctherian Analogs were able to document her findings.

Khilseith Yingella

A former medic for the Salmanian Hollowguard, Khilseith Yingella assisted in the first upload of a Visctherian memory to a concentrated pool of Dimensional Magic. Named after her, the Yingella Pools are going to be used to store thousands of years of knowledge, Yingella says in her quote to Chronos magazine. This will lead to a preservation of knowledge like we have never seen.
