Ithos Character in Teryn | World Anvil

Ithos

Ithos was the last of the seven to awaken, but he was wise like his sister Lumina and diligent like his sister Vanas. He was also the longest-lived of the Vegrāhid, surviving until Makhashakh if the legends are to be believed.   There was no Shāmalta more skilled at working stone than Ithos, and it was fitting that his name became the word for the stone itself.   History records Ithos as a genius engineer and architect who operated at such a structured and organized fashion that he could make a requisition order of exactly the number of blocks necessary for a project. When once questioned, he added a single extra. That loose block sat above the entrance to the Ithald governance building as a reminder.   He bore the Ushgēd known as Thezra, eternity, a forge capable of the heat of a blast furnace. Little is known about Thezra, not because of secrecy but because it rarely moved from his workshop and had no visible supernatural properties.   Ithal was the city he founded, and it bore stonework that no other hold could duplicate or even rival. He shared a strong bond with Oram, and a professional rivalry after the latter's invention of ithomish, castable stone.   Ithos is the name for stone in Shāmaltāz, but his name is also lent to a legendary silvery-white metal, said to be the least dense of all solid metals, that they can no longer produce.

Artifacts

Thezra: a forge so well constructed that it could generate heat on par with later large-scale furnaces. While little of any special properties are known, it's perhaps more important for its historical and symbolic value to Shāmalta as a tactile representation of the works of one of the most intelligent of their people who ever lived. Legends say it was still in Ithal when Makhashakh occurred, meaning if one could locate the old hold, it could be the easiest of the Ushgēd to recover.
