The original birthplace of the ursine is Rus, but since then many have spread aross the lands. Some even managed to reach Catai and would become the pandaran

Ursine have a keen sense of smell, able to track prey with this smell. the Black fur subtype is the only subtype to possess the ability to see better in night environments

Naming Traditions

Ursine names are derived from their grizzly origin, and therefore have strong sounds and syllables. Young ursine also usually have a pet name that they are known as throughout their tribe, and are often referred to as such affectionately by their elders and spouses even as they reach adulthood. Others who refer to them in this way are sure to raise a ursine's ire

Strength and honor are core to traditional ursine philosophy. The ursine clan of Nestili are known to be honorable and dangerous combatants, who will defend their clans honor whenever it is tarnished. Those of the lands of Catai are known to be wise scholars as well as adept warriors. Ursine are split into clans, where they will carry their clan name with them to bring it prestige and respect

History

Ursine seem to have always been there, for the oldest records of the people of the Rus state they were always apart of the land. It is said they may have come from the god of bears and thunder, Perun, as his chosen people. The ursine made the Nestili clan, one of the 4 major clans in the lands of the Rus, where they would war with the other clans. After being the last clan to subjugate, the Nestili would integrate into the Rus Tsardom, and become one of the most militaristic clans in the land, and to this day remain a large political entity within the Tsardom of Rus

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Ursine are seen as intimidating, but those who actually speak to one in person for a while will come to find out they can be quite humble and polite. Though one should not think that this makes them weak, for when angered they will prove to be fierce combatants

Fur color can change based on which sub-race an ursine belongs to. The pandaran sport a mix of white and black fur, the black fur sport a black fur color all over their body, the brown fur sport light to dark brown fur, and the ursine of the Nestili usually sport white fur
