Biological Traits

Trollkin, as products of their wildly chaotic lineage, are strange in their ways. Some outsiders have tried to categorize them as Garuuk Blood beastmen in the past, but these depictions are largely inaccurate and made in bad faith. However some common traits are as follows.
  • Most Trollkin possess fangs and claws (with tusks also being a common thing seen amongst their kind) they can use as deadly weapons
  • Trollkin possess a surprising vigor, similar to actual trolls. This allows them to heal swiftly from wounds, even being able to close wounds in battle without the need of magic or potion.
  • Trollkin have been described as imposing due to their strength and size. This allows them to be rather intimidating to their enemies.
Most Trollkin resemble hulking, "brutish", humanoids with varying skin tones. However due to their ancestry, many have physicals oddities such as: Long arms, horns, triple jointed fingers, hooves or scales, too many or too few fingers, head tentacles instead of hair, patterned for, strangely colored eyes. These oddities however are not as widespread as people think, and largely can apparently be fixed with magic the Trollkin have developed. Their appearance does sometimes make people mistake them for a type of Orc or a member of the greenskin family's, but this isn't really supported by any historical records.   There are 3 major recognized subraces of the Trollkin, being as follows:
  • Night Whisper: Night Whisper Trollkin are said to have some ancestry to fey from the dark portions of the Wyld Realm, and even the Realm of the Dead. They typically become shamans, priests, and seers. They are said to be able to hear the whispers of their ancestors to guide them in life.
  • Stonehide: These Trollkin are the result of unions between humans and monstrous brutes such as ogres, trolls, or even stranger fey creatures. They typically have larger frames and more muscle than other Trollkin and said to have a rough stone-like texture to their skin which gives them a thick hide that's hard to pierce.
  • Southern: Southern Trollkin are those that inhabit many tribes of nomadic groups in the sun-blasted sands of Carall. They have a harsh culture, but they are bred to last through whatever the sands may throw their way. They have surprisingly durable stomachs and immune systems, leading them to be able to resist poison. They also have a thick hide similar to the Stonehide Trollkin.

Genetics and Reproduction

Trollkin reproduce sexually, with a gestation period of about 8 months. However what is noted is that they are not naturally as fertile as say a human, leading them to need to make totems to supposedly boost their fertility.

History

Trollkin history is largely defined by where they came from. In far ancient times, for whatever reason, there were many a union between humans and a variety of trolls, ogres, and fey. This strange breeding apparently would through a complex line of descendants that historians have failed to even accurately track, led to the Trollkin. They were, for the longest while, mistaken for Orcs or Hobgoblins with strange varying skin. This led to many forming tribes to protect one another, and keep together in comradery. They managed to avoid most conflict during the dreaded "War of Green" and after that would eventually immigrate into the many cities and would form urban tribes. They have since then established themselves as wandering tribes of powerful warriors, spread numerously across the world.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Due to their imposing nature and ancient history, many are apprehensive of the Trollkin, not to mention their name association with actual trolls. That said, in truth they are as diverse as humans, and so have a wide array of stereotypes, hatreds, and positive associations linked to them like any race in the world.
