The Weeping Lands
Geography
The Weeping Lands contain many mountains and open fields as well as dark and twisted forests
Localized Phenomena
It is said the Hollowing infects not just the animals and plants physically, it corrupts the very soul of all it encompasses. Deep within the heart of the Weeping Lands lies a great pit where this darks energy came from and where Ru Fuji fell into, and the further away one becomes from this "Abyssal Pit" the less power the hollowing can project. The hollowing can corrupt all in the land, and this corruption can change as mortals travel around in the land/
The very air of the land can become sultry and hot, or suddenly form thick fog when one needs to look around. The air can become hard to breathe or even poisonous in some areas. When seeking shelter, rain can suddenly pour down as if the gods are weeping. However this rain isnt always water, and commonly it will rain blood, worms, or chunks of viscera. Boiling water or acid may even fall from the sky.
As the Crow Clan knows, no water source is safe in the Weeping Lands, and so they must always import water form outside. All water sources in the Weeping Lands are contaminated and to drink from this would be to allow the hollowing inside ones soul, and potentially become one of the lost or simply an undead. In some cases, something may be lurking in the water as well, waiting to pounce on any prey that get too close. All water in the Weeping Lands reek of decay and other such horrible scents
The plant and animal life has been irrevocable corrupted and changed, and so every animal and plant is some strange and terrible parody of what once was. Trees and grass may appear dead, yet continue to grow, sometimes uncontrollably like a virus. Animals will become hyper aggressive and in many cases twist into vile monstrosities
Fauna & Flora
Many legions of undead, Oni, corrupted Yokai, and other such horrors exist in the Weeping Lands, held at bay only by the great walls of Catai and Kantō, and the brave warriors who fight off their armies each day.
Natural Resources
It is said while the lands have been tainted, ancient and lost treasure may still remain within the Weeping Lands, tempting those brave and foolish enough to try and brave all the horrors for the chance at getting rich
History
Legends tell of one Kami god that fell down from the sky, and landed on earth. He would land in the Weeping Lands and go mad from his descend from godhood. He would use this madness and form the Weeping Lands, and it is said that the apocalypse will come if the samurai fail to stop the forces of Ru Fuji and the lands of Kantō and the world will be drowned in a tide of corrupting madness. Since then the Crab Clan to this day defends the border closest to the Weeping Lands, and the Crow Clan have established a very small amount of fortresses to take the fight directly to the forces of the hollowed.
However no one is entirely sure what was there before this corruption. Some say an ancient empire was once there, others say perhaps the empires of Catai and Kantō once had territory that extended up in this region. Whatever the case, none of that truly matters know, as the land is naught but a place of corruption and death.
