The Sanguine Realm
Previous records on vampires and their cancerous kind have always been...hard to write due to simply the unknown nature of vampires themselves. However, new information always floats into the ears of those scholars able to pen tomes of such damnable creatures, and the latest knowledge after a recently slain vampires journal was acquired has, turned many scholars upside down. What we knw on vampires previously was only the tiniest faction of their kind, and there are far, far more then any could have perceived possible.
The Great Split
Vampiric culture has split into multiple factions- The Travelers are those vampire's who seek to move into the mortal realm, where they are far more outnumbered then in their plane. However the Mortal Plane is, at least for the most part, stable. However life is far harsher for the children of the blood moon here then the Sanguine Realm, and as such many die to the vampire hunters and the sun itself
- The Reclaiments are those vampires who travel across the Sanguine Realm trying to find ancient spells and magical artifacts to perhaps one day staunch the invading sun, and perhaps return their domain to stability.
- The Crypt Lords are those who decided to drown themselves in necromantic energy by making their home in the Realm of the Dead, for here they make their great kingdoms in the realm of the dead
- The Cults of Vengeance are those vampires who seek to, either due to bitterness or a twisted form of hope, wish to destroy the mortal realm and all its inhabitants in their entirety, the hope being that perhaps if their is no mortal realm to corrupt their Sanguine Realm, then perhaps there realm will not die eventually. However this group is a very fringe group and as such their fight is a hopeless one.
Geography
The Sanguine Realm lies in between both the realm of the dead, and the Mortal Realm, which explains how the Mortal Realm is slowly eating away at it due to the sheer size difference. The land is a dark land, and yet one of a strange, dark beauty. it is mostly very thick forests with a great countryside. The land is covered in deep fog, and to the coasts the fog slightly eases up, allowing someone to stare at the great blood moon, that gazes peacefully down at the world. However, to the west of this great land lies the realm of pure doom and despair, for these are the scorched lands, where the mortal sun has begun is dreaded invasion. These lands are a scorching desert, where many vampires have had to hide underground to avoid the sun.
This land was perfect for the vampires, being one where most of the water sources are instead blood, and where there are no mortals that seek to hunt them. However, this realm may soon no longer be habitable for them.
Fauna & Flora
Many strange supernatural creatures that exist in our world also exist in the Sanguine Realm, however it seems they are less hostile in the Sanguine Realm, perhaps them being stranded in the mortal realm has led to increased aggression.
Natural Resources
Many strange and magical materials exist in the Sanguine Realm, and many of them are quite beneficial for vampire kind. Magical metals said to protecect them from the rays of the mortal sun, to roots able allow a vampire to naturally have children without the aid of complicated magical rituals. However, many fear these materials will go extinct along with the realm.
History
The existence of this realm has only recently been revealed to a select few mortal scholars and a few vampire hunters who know a bit too much. For good reason as well, for it seems our plane for whatever reason, is simply absorbing their plane. Their plane is quite literally, ceasing to exist, slowly but surely. If the rumors and telling of the vampire the journal was taken from are to be believed. This realm was made in the early days of the formation of the Mortal Realm, by the supposed mad blood dragon Cain. It was said this wad made as a home for his people, as he had spread his tainted curse to others. From here our knowledge is limited at best, but what can be deduced is this land would allow vampire's to spread, and form vast kingdoms and communities. However for unknown reason their realm became unstable. Where once was a realm where there was no sun, suddenly the mortal sun would slowly invade their realm causing their own people to hiss and hide away in the so called Scorched Lands, where stone is scorched and cracked. and their once dark beautiful land is now one of pain and fire.
This seemed to lead to an event known as the Migration of Bloody Tears, where the vampiric culture that was once united fractured into many different societies. Now the lands exist as a fractured realm, burning and dying. Perhaps this is why vampires hate mortals as much as they do, for they have inadvertently destroyed their home.
