Causes

The cause isn't entirely known, but what is believed is that for vampire hunters, being around so much negative energy will change you mentally, no matter how strong of mind one is. While the time it takes for this madness to develop changes form person to person, it hits everyone just the same

Symptoms

General madness, violent compulsions against any in their path, anti-social and aggressive social behavior, and hallucinations

Treatment

Treatment is....complicated. Some hunters say simply retiring from the hunt for a while might cure this, but this isn't entirely accepted by the wider vampire hunter community. For many, the only cure is death, to be put out of their misery

Prognosis

Its believed that this type of madness starts slowly, and builds overtime until its spread across the entire body and seizes control. Once there happens, there is no going back

Affected Groups

Vampire hunters strangely seem to be the only affected group, as peasants in the deadlands seem to not be affected. However, madness from being in a undead infested hell scape and madness from fighting in the undead hel scape may be hard to differentiate

Prevention

Some hunters believe that this madness accumulates in the left leg, and so many hunters may wear belts along their left leg to keep it contained in the leg, or more drastically cut off their left leg and use some form of peg leg or dwarven prosthetic. Other then that there is really no way to prevent this madness, and so many hunters simply take a grim acceptance that their lives are forfeit
