The Illithid Menace
No such creatures exist. There is no life from out amongst the stars. Nothing but dead stars and empty, lifeless rocks of rubble and ruin. There is no unholy force of twisted mockeries of flesh and metal. Nothing exsits, do not read further, for why waste time with something that does not exist.
There is little to no information on their origins. Some say they are the result of a dead god. Others say they come from The Void Realms, a shifting tide of flesh ships and other such horrifying notions. In truth, Mindflayers have been to this world before, and some scattered outcasts live amongst the squalor and ruin of cave systems and fallen castles. Only two groups have any concrete information on them: Drow, and the Dwarves of the Sky Kingdoms. The Drow are ever tight lipped, and the Dwarves are not much help either, but some information has been managed to be pried from their tomes. The best they can tell, Illithids are not of this world, or even this dimension, they are utterly alien. The Dwarves have been generous enough to donate autopsy reports to some of the most well versed scholars of the land. They are strange, tall humanoids with octopus like heads, and seemingly no need for magic. Instead they possess horrifying psionic might, able to use their very mind to annihilate anything that stands in their path. This power also has a horrifying ability to bend creatures to their will, breaking their mind so utterly as to leave nothing left but a husk of flesh following orders.
The way they get their name is truly terrifying, for their mouth is a strange almost beak, covered by tendrils. They use their razor sharp mouth to literally bore into ones skull and devour the brain of a creature. It seems this is the only way they gain sustenance, by eating the brain of their pray and the cranial fluids. Witnesses describe it as the most horrifying experience of their lives. However, most appear to be physically weak, and so rely on brain dominated warriors to do their fighting. They seem to have technology not of this world, morphing victims in mockeries of flesh and metal. The most common sighting is strange helmets being worn upon the heads of their basic warriors, presumably linking them to some sort of "psionic network" as their masters command them to fight and die. They can have entire chunks blown out of them so long as their limbs and brain are still attached. Witnesses have sometimes described great ships of strange design, doing battle with the Sky Dwarves, or dropping rare but horrifying walkers of great design. These walkers blare horrifying horns as they use weird tendrils to literally shred their victims to pieces or throw them about. Some simply hunt and kill every living man, woman, child, and thing in their sight. Some collect humans as if cattle being put in cages, or put in grinders on their back, crunched into blood and meat. They also leave behind strange red moss that seems to be slightly toxic to most life upon this world, and is difficult to remove once there.
They are utterly alien, and utterly evil. Though some snob nosed scholars may try to argue that there is no "good or evil" that its "just societal standards", these are the exception above all. They are proof that gods are real, and they hate us. They travel the realms in their fleets, ravaging all they find. They dominate their prey as either livestock to be harvested or as slaves to do their bidding. They toy with creation and life, creating damned mockeries of life to make more perfect slaves. They wield strange technology that can shoot psionic beams of energy at their prey. They do not care who they kill or what nations they would leave utterly ruined. Know this, take solace in one fact, they bleed. They die, just like every mortal on this pathetic world of earth and rock. No matter if they are "outcasts" from their main forces or "promising they are good" and kind souls, kill them all. They are evil in its most vile, horrifyingly mundane form. If that which does not exist does, destroy it utterly.
