The End of Ages 4200EC to Present

This world is dying. While this Age isn't by any means the official description of the time we now inhabit, it cannot be denied that such feelings are understandable. Many declare that this truly is the end of days that we currently inhabit. All those heroes of legend are dead and buried, the Crusade of Light failed, and many many more horrors now inhabit the world. Monsters have become more common, areas of cursed undeath and corruption are appearing in more areas, vile cults worshipping those form the Void Beyond keep festering like some hateful disease, and what's worse is Planar Travel has, though it had always been difficult, now nearly impossible thanks tot he very cosmic balance of this universe being ravaged by vile sorcery.
The world we inhabit is a joke. Where once were kingdoms that fought for what was right, now they all fight for other reasons, and men and women butcher, maim, violate and desecrate one another simply because they can. This is an age of hate, an age of wanton cruelty and vilest sin. An age where even those so called holy men and women fall to greed and sin. This is our age of terror as demonic incursions now have begun to crop up, slowly, but oh so surely in our world. Ours is an age of cruelest mockery and fates, for the greatest tragedy of our entire history as people is that we were not wiped out instantly at the end of the Age of Heroes. We were not given the dignity of a quick death, no no no, we were given the pain of the agonizing end. We are an infected wound of a world, slowly festering as we spin hatefully, endless, painfully to our own doom.
A saying that was quickly shown to the world and demonized by the church for being completely heretical perfectly encapsulates this joke of an era. While the majority of people throw the quote away as the ramblings of a mad man, and in truth that's what they are, this one street urchin seemed to understand the terrible truth of our current age better then entire nations:
Hope is dead
Hell is empty
and the demons are already here...
