The Empire of Anvilmar

Structure

The Forge Emperor sits atop the throne, the chosen servant of Hattar to rule his people. Under him are the council of elders who help maintain the nation with the Emperor.

Culture

Being a master of ones craft is everything to the Hattarans. All of their works must be the absolute best they can be, and even the most minor of deficiencies is to be corrected or discarded if unable to. Their cities are made of pure gold, as they stand as a testament to the perfection of the empire. It is said that every citizen looks and dresses like kings and queens of other nations, as they are  a cut above the rest of the world in their highly isolated homes. Being a blacksmith in the empire is a highly prestigious position, with the craft passed down from offspring to offspring, and to deviate from this most holy position is considered blasphemy.   The technology they have limited access too is thanks in part to their natural curiosity. The technology they have is impressive, but not close to what they have discovered around their homes in strange ruins. They are a strange people with no clear origin, and as such they see these relics as previews into their untold history. As such they are always seeking to improve their knowledge to better harness and manipulate the technology they find. Some say that a lot of their relics are stolen dwarven artifacts, but the Empire denies this profusely. Their technology is one of the only things keeping them alive in their nightmarishly dangerous mountains they inhabit, and so they horde and covet their technology heavily, to the point that engineers act more as priests, where they bless and pray for machinery to awaken. Many different cults of machinery exist in the empire, and most of them are sponsored by the Church of Hattar.

History

Our world is one that is still largely unknown to us. None prove this fact like the Hattarans. Few information is truly known of this strange people. but if the few bits of details they have given to outsiders is too be believed, then their origin is a strange one. They have said that they awoke in a room of lighting and strange machinery. They would awake from pods already fully grown, and would wander around in their room until they would receive a vision from their god.    The descriptions tell of a great giant of a man with eyes that sparked and glowed with lightning. The people would fall to their knees in awe as his booming voice would command them to build a nation within the mountains, so that one day they may rediscover their birthright. With that, the vision would end, and the newly christened Hattarans would get to work. It would take many years, but they would create great cities of gold. From this it would take them many, many more years, but they would soon discover a way to call in the arcane and holy powers of their gods lightning to be harnessed into their weapons and their creations.   However, technology would stall as they were suddenly assailed by hordes of goblins, ogres, and giants that would tear down many cities, and wreck many strange ruins. However it was at this time that they would discover red lighting atop one of their mountains, and their holy engineers would get an idea. With the blessing of their god, they would harness this red lighting into constructs, and forge mighty war robots. Using these war robots, the golden armies of Anvilmar would fell these demons as they would hold their cities. However the damage was done, and the empire was reduced into 4 great cities. However, to this day the Empire of Anvilmar remains strong, as they hold their walls against hordes of unknowable monsters and demons and seek to rediscover their lost lineage.

Demography and Population

Their empire is made up of many different species from all over the continent, which must makes their origin that much more confusing.

Territories

The small but powerful Empire of Anvilmar inhabits a location high in the mountains south of the Goblin Bandit Kingdoms, in a location known as the Great Gate, which is close to the Ruins of Ishtar. Their empire is not as large as one would imagine, as they are assailed on all sides by threats and so only inhabit 4 great cities built atop the mountains.

Military

The Empire of Anvilmar is said to have great war hosts of golden warriors. They also go to war with strange mechanical constructs powered by red lightning that march to war and slaughter all in their path.

Religion

The Empire of Anvilmar has a religion that strangely seems to take a god similar or derived from the Dwarven Ancestor Gods. They worship Hattar, the god of lightning, forge, and engineering. From him he gives the empire the knowledge to create technological wonders, and rediscover their lost heritage. The empire has even named their people after their great god, for they are simply Hattarans. The church of Hattar is known as the Church of the Forge.

Foreign Relations

No one really knows of its existence besides tall tales in taverns of great cities of gold deep in the mountain ranges of the east. However, The Empire of Anvilmar themselves are incredibly isolationist, and as such do not see much interest in interacting with the outside world. However they are great enemies of the Goblin Bandit Kingdoms, and many of the Ogre War Tribes.
