The Direvow Tribe

Structure

The organization structure of the Direvow Tribe is built upon a complex fedual like structure based on the deeds and worthiness of each member. Those at the top are the chieftains that are hardened survivors of the Empty Range,  Their tribe is also fairly loose as it is strict, the strongest and most worthy lead and that is the end of it. Due to how scattered the warbands are, there is always a chance for one to prove themselves worthy of leading their band of warriors.   Though their tribal structure is loose, they do have one head ruler above all except the gods, that being the Warrior Queen Vharri The Bloody, who has proven herself to be the absolute pinnacle of worthiness to the gods and to the Direvow Tribe.

Culture

The Direvow are a powerfully built and tall people, and are some of the most feared warriors in the Empty Range. It is said that some of their champions are able to annihilate entire armies single-handedly, for their vows give them strength. Yes, the swearing of promises and vows is central to the culture of the Direvow, where they will carve out an oath or promise of earning glory upon a stone known as the Oath Stone. The tribe will carry this stone with them and make sure that their oaths are either fulfilled or they simply die. They do this in effort to attract the attention of the gods to earn more power and glory. Due to this they are some of the best warriors due to the regularity that these oaths are fulfilled and completed, and the rewards are great indeed.   One thing of note is that the Direvow are not necessarily evil despite their rather "savage" appearance and beliefs. They are simply survivalists in the extreme and though the Dark Gods hold more sway in the Empty Range, they willingly swear oaths to every god that will hear them, in order to gain the most amount of power. They believe that the gods actually compete for their attention and so grant great rewards to the worthiest of them. Though they may ask the gods of hell for power and swear to honor their name, they aren't blind followers of them. In fact they do not pray to any gods really and simply swear to gods for power rather then any particular desire of faith. It is also said they have little use for science of philosophy, and view the world in an incredibly grey and drab way. You simply live, and then die, no need to complicate it with codes of conduct or how to live a godly life. They are hardy in the extreme, though do also have a particular love for storytelling and other forms of entertainment.

History

There have been many tribes throughout the history of the world, and many still exist today.  During the Age of Mortals, many of these tribes would scatter and migrate across the world, searching for a place to call their own. One such tribe was the Drivar, whose origins point to either the Vestoni, the Celtan, or even both. They migrated to the empty range, possibly seeking to make a life for themselves away from the currently forming groups of nations in the continent of Nilush. They would travel deep into the unforgiving mountain peaks, nd would eventually settle amongst a great mountain known as Cromark, which is an unforgiving rocky mountain of considerable size.   While making their life upon the mountain, it is said that they are closer to the gods there then any others, for the dark gods do indeed have more sway in the Empty Range then any other place in Nilush. What happened after this isn't entirely known, but it is said that eventually they would fight off many other hell worshipping tribes due to the power of their oaths. The oaths they swore to earn glory and power in the name of whatever gods would hear them and would make a name for themselves as the fiercest tribe in the mountains. They would scatter across the mountains to earn more glory and strength in the name of the gods and the primal ways of the world, thus the Direvow Tribe was born.

"Oaths of Glory!"

Warriors of Hell or Misunderstood?

While it should be admitted that yes, at times Direvow warriors have marched with armies under the banner of hell, it has also been observed of them fighting said armies, not to mention the regular conflicts they have to fight against the Hell Tribes of the Empty Range. They fight simply to find worthy battles, and so their loyalties to Hell or the Light are fleeting, They will only follow a warrior they deem even remotely worthy, and once they have fulfilled their oaths they will simply leave to go find another battle to prove themselves.
