The Age of Giants -999EC to 0EC

The Age of Giants is an age where the last large creatures left in any significant numbers were Giants. These large, lumbering creatures migrated across the land in large hordes, and as such were encountered by all. This was also an age where while the Elves had managed to secure their homeland, had not gone about trying to conquer the world until later in this age. The early human, dwarven, halfling, and other such races were coming into the light, typically in tribal communities of hunter-gatherers, save for the dwarves who would go on to build their early fortresses in this age. It is said these fortresses were built to protect them from Giants, and it shows. Many tales are told of the terror Giants caused the early races in those days.
While stories may tell of the tyranny and cruelty of Giants, one must understand that such a statement implies that Giants were one unified people, which they were anything but. While many preyed upon the weaker races, many others simply tried to avoid the other races best they can, however given heir size and the environmental impact they cause by simply walking, this can prove hard sometimes. As such many tribes of humans and the like would go one to fight great wars against Giants that got too close. The early Human tribes seemed to mainly originate from the land that would be known as Ashenfeld. These wars were bloody but in the end many giants were killed by these smaller races. However a few of the smaller races would actually come to worship Giants, and it is said a few would follow the Giants around as pilgrims. This is said how the race of Half-Giants would be born, as some of the other races began to mate with said Giants.
It was only when the Elves began to expand into the world to form a vast empire, and also due to the Great Exit that the Giants began to die out more quickly. While it did not result in total extinction, it has led to the Giants being a very endangered race in the world of Tertara, however through their deaths' the land became more safe for the tribes to begin to settle down, no longer having to run from these great titans. Thus the Age of Giants would end, and the Age of Mortals began.
