Stige, the First Layer

If one wished to trave down the Hells, Stige is the first stop after the tower, and the great falling descent into the Hells. This is the realm of constant blood and warfare, where genocides and calamities happen on a daily basis. Most of the souls here are trapped in a cycle of eternal torment and violence, forced to maim each other and than be reborn anew some time after. Though this should not make one complaicent, for true death is still a very real concern for the souls and demons trapped in here. So great is the terrible wars here that the Blood River runs through the majority of this land, and being the primary means of sustineance instead of water.   Being the first layer in the case of some mythical invasion of the Hells, Stige is a blasted hellscape of forts, fields of battle, and defensive lines everywhere. The land is primarily rocky, with barren hills and mountains as far as one can see. Charred wastelands and boiling tar pits and lakes of lava are also common, as well as the vast salt flats made from the tears of the butchered innocent. The devils and demons of this land are some of the most blood hungry and vile, loving the tormented screams of slaughter and doom. Fire rains form the sky from the pure rage of the denizens living here, and one may find it hard to breathe from the choking ash and sulphur in the air. Looking up, there are no sun or stars, as the only light in this plain is the constant, blood red light that shines brightly in the air.    Some say that this land used to not be a blasted hellscape, for there are smal pockets of lush green rarely found in this realm, but this is doubtful. The only source of "civilization" one can consider is the fortresses ruled by powerful demons and devils, and of course the greatest fortress is where Abbadon resides, in the Blood Bronze Tower. The tower has skulls and blood surronding the landscape around it, and it reaches so high that one can barely see the top of the burning red eyes upon the skull on the tower.
