To die for ones country is honorable, to kill for ones country is honorable, at least so many feel. In truth dying for anything is a rotten prospect, and no one knows this better than the those that have lost loved ones to conflicts and schisms. Myra of Lawrence is one such woman, the now current ruler of Treehold (or Torland as the locals know it as). She is a fiery woman of shrewd intrigue and it is through her that Torland now marches to stake its claim into the nation. However, she fights to regain some semblance of control of the crippled nation ever since the failed Crusade of Light. In fact, this failed crusade is what resulted in Myra's father losing his life, and her acension to the rulership of Torland due to the fact that her father had no other heirs. This has fostered a disdain in her heart for the Church of the Flame, though she does realize the political power of the Church. Thus she has decreed a land ruled by a fair and noble ruler, rather than old decaying priests of a church and a deranged king. So it is her that rules the Treehold Coalition, and have done their best to make any territorial gains upon the capital and Winden. Winden itself has proven to be a most troublesom adversary, some even joke that she will set the land of Winden ablaze in fire if she finally has her way. Regardless, she has been working closely with the Halflings of Mournshire to bolster their numbers, and thanks to being the bread basket of the kingdom food shortages are a myth in Torland.
