Lizette Hrafndottir, Trickster Goddess of Aldinnheimr

The Great Deceiver, The Laughing Trickster, The gaulik (fool), The Whispering Wind, Daughter of the Crow

Though the northmen of Aldinnheimr claim to have a faith based on primal animal spirits rather than gods, it cannot be denied that these animal gods take on the many qualities of gods. They create life, and also bicker fiercely amongst each other, and that can be seen no better than when their squabbles create god like beings that inhabit the north. One such squabble would be when the Crow wished to walk amongst the people and would come across a local wise-woman that he wished to mate with. However, the Wolf had already wished to be the mate of the night with this wise woman, and would enter a fierce debate with the Crow, which ended with the Crow being chased away after being mauled. However, the Crow would get the last laugh, as it seduced the greatest mortal champion of the Wolf by disguising himself as a strapping young berserker. This angered the Wolf, but the deed was already done, and a daughter was born from this coupling months later, named Lizette.   Early into her life, she would understand that she was not of normal stock. She would display insane magical ability, and would hear the whispers of the Crow in her dreams. However, she grew tiresome until finally she was old enough for the Crow to invite her to his realm. However, she realized accepting this deal would render her but a simple servant, and one that had grown accustomed to being seen as better by her tribesman meant she craved not to be the servant of a worshiped being, but to BE worshipped. So she would instruct the Crow that she would only join if he built a beautiful home for her to rest in his realm within 4 days. He accepted and would use his prized draft horse, Magni, to move the building materials. However on the 3rd day, using her trickster magic, Lizette would disguise herself as the most beautiful mare, and would tempt Magni, who would chase her deep into the forest past where the Crow would be able to find them. After mating with Magni for a time, so much time had passed that the Crow could not complete the structure, and though the Crow would swear to have vengeance, Lizette was said to be heard laughing as she ran away.    However her antics have never stopped, as she regularly involves herself in the happenings of the gods of the north. One such antic was when she challenged the Bear that it could not make the most beautiful crown in the world, with the prize being that which was most dear to her, a cloak. The Bear would accept this challenge, and would spend 2 days and nights forging out of the purest gold from the greatest Dwarven smiths the most beautiful crown in the world. So beautiful was this crown that it is said to be almost blinding. When the Bear demanded its payment, Lizette would proclaim: "Indeed you have won, but it is not my cloak that i hold dear, but the cloak of our dear friend the Wolf, for his fur is the finest cloak in the land!" This spawned a brawl as the Wolf agitated the Bear to "just try it" and the Bear trying to get its reward, resulting in such a calamitous brawl that it is said the very world shook for 1 day. This is also what ended up separating the southern portion of Aldinnheimr with the other half, as the wolf was thrown into the land with such force it split the land. Another "joke" she has played was when she convinced the Wrym as he slept that he in fact had missed the events of Ragnarök. Outraged at this idea, Lizette proceeded to with a combination of puns, poetry, and deceitful magic, convince him that a star in the sky was this world that he had to destroy, and the Wrym did breath in and then out with such force that it snuffed that star from the sky forever. Satisfied with the outcome, the Wyrm slept, only to then be woken up later by an outraged Crow, who had depended on that star for some of its magics. Realizing that it had been tricked, the Wrym punished Lizette by locking her in its spine and having acid drip on her face for all eternity. However, she was eventually freed when she convinced a wandering blacksmith to craft her a bowl, in which she held over herself and when the bowl did overflow, the poison dripped onto her prison and would eventually cut her way out of the Wryms Spine.   She exists to this day, causing mischief and mayhem amongst the mortal lands and the lands of the divine for Aldinnheimr. However, though she causes much mischief, none truly know her goals, and all her tricks seem to benefit her in some way, no matter how small, in the end. In truth, none can say, however she is very active in the stories and sagas the skalds tell of their pantheon. She is equal parts hated for her mischief as she is seen as an important part of their pantheon, for without her the northern folk would not be reminded that their animal gods are at the end of the day, just as "human" as they are, and that they are always prone to mistakes.

Cults of Lizette

There are many cults that exist in the name of Lizette. She is not a widely accepted deity per say, and as such many of these cultists are outcasts in Aldinnheimer society. Many are thieves, crooks, merchants, and assassins' who pray to her for the ability to lie or get away with stealing or some such. One notable organization is The Bastard Children of Lizette, who believe that Lizette should be the true over-deity of the land, for she also holds the secrets to cheating death itself. She was said to be able to rescue a soul from the afterlife by making a deal with the Wolf to free a soul trapped in the afterlife for thousands of years, this soul unknown to the wolf had unique knowledge of death, and so she is said to have hidden the secret to immortality somewhere in the mortal realm.   Another such group is the Light Pockets, who are a collection of thieves who believe that stealing from the wealthy in order to buy favors and information on rival houses is a form of worship. They typically deal in secrets and stolen goods, and are said to sometimes glow with a green light at the dead of night when running away, for the chase makes things more fun for Lizette.
