Coltherstone has long been a land beset on all sides, boxed in by people who hate them. Be they beasts, monsters, or fellow men, Collanders have gotten used to being looked down upon and hated just for being there. This does not bother the Collander though, as they know not a damn soul that isn't like them would survive out in the wilds. Langley the Swift is perhaps the perfect embodiment of this ideal, being a no nonsense ruler, short in stature but as ferocious as a lion. Many were surprised by Coltherstone's decree to go entirely independent like Murton during the civil war, with aspirations of becoming the Coltherstone Empire, and Langley will fight tooth and nail for this goal. Seen as a champion of his people, he insists on leading from the frontlines as much as he can get away with, much to the annoyance of his generals. He has barricaded the many riverways with checkpoints, effectively being able to control trade going through the central part of the nation. Langley used to be a Monster Slayer before he ascended to the rulership of Coltherstone, and it shows as his throne room is filled with trophies of his hunts. Lately however he has had tragedy strike as his late wife has passed from plague (though some whisper of suspecting foul play) and has as of late had trouble securing an heir. Regardless, Langley is a ferocious combatant, and it would be wise not to underestimate him, lest they end up with a bodkin arrow through their skull.
