Biological Traits

Kudan are humanoids with cow horns, ears, legs with hooves, and tails. Due to the fact most Kudan are heavy built, they are able to carry well above the usual amount most other races can carry. There are 4 types of Kudan: 

• Arcadians are closest to their cow heritage. They are capable of producing a liquid milk that can be used for medicinal properties. They also possess a healing factor that helps them heal faster then most other races. 
• Catoblepas are a unique subrace in that they are shy and melancholic who live in marshlands and swamps. Unlike the rest of their kin, they have a habbit for being anti-social, likely due to their ability to kill someone with looking at them. This is due to the curse placed on the first of their kind by a cruel oni who hated the overly nice attitude of these creatures. They are able to shoot a spirit beam at someone with jsut their eyes, though for this reason many wear a mask or simply just avoid eye contact with others. They are also able to see in the dakr thanks to their curse.

Genetics and Reproduction

Kudan reproduce sexually, with a gestation period similar to humans at 8-9 months

Growth Rate & Stages

Kudan reach maturity at around 20 years of age, they live for over a century and retain their vitality throughout their life up until almost horrifyingly rapid decline within their last decline of life

Naming Traditions

Most Kudan stick to the naming traditions of the Kantōnese and Cataiyans depending on which nation they live in. However, traditionally they possess specific suffixes used to show individuality from local names. This often has the additional benefit for the Kudan to create a fantastical tale of their upbringing when meeting others. Examples for males include: -beau, -cole, -ester, -gunder, -jack, -mallow, -odis, while female examples include: -belle, -cara, -ette, -jille, -lossie, -shey, -vietta

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Kudan are incredibly kind, likely inheriting this from their creator Izano, who is also a very kind and soft spoken man. No kindness is too small, which unfortunately many don't take them as a threat, and in the dangerous lands of Orliea, being too nice can get you killed. So most Kudan tend to stay with others who can protect them, but this isn't to say that they are defenseless, just must Kudan hate to take life. It can be hard for a Kudan to settle down as they usually want to go around the land of Orliea and help people, however with the mist and escalating conflicts of samurai clans and Catai province warlords, most Kudan are forced to stay in one area

History

Kudan were made long ago when Izano, the god of Creation and life, drank too much sake and decided to come down to the world and make love to a cow. While obviously this infuriated his wife Izama, goddess of death and a great plague ravaged Kantō for 7 months. However Izano would realize he had accidently created a new race, the Kudan. He would raise the Kudan to be king and caring of others, while also able to defend themselves, and helped make more as he then spread them throughout the land. At first many people were apprehensive of the Kudan, for no one could possibly be that king for no reason. Overtime however, people have come to accept and even cherish the company of a Kudan, for their hearts are as big as the largest mountains of Kantō
