History

The history of the Jorogumo is as unknown as they are sinister. It is said that long ago Izama, Kantō Goddess of Death once lounged about the world on a rare time of not being busy. This was when a spider would descend down and approach the great goddess. She looked at the spider curiously when the spider suddenly said that it was unable to find food and hunt prey. All prey easily avoided its slow speed and begged Izama for the power to become a great hunter. Izama was amused by the little spider, so she gave the spider the ability to deal out death, by gifting it with web weaving. The spider would teach other spiders this trick, and so that is how spiders learned to weave webs.   However another spider came up to Izama and asked if it could become as beautiful as her. Izama was always one for flattery, and so gifted this spider a new form, that of the Jorogumo. Many stories are told of the Jorogumo luring young, handsome men into its web before they are never seen again. However in the year 3000, the Jorogumo would arrive to the cities of Kantō to live a more peaceful life. Though they cannot shake all of their predatory instincts they have been adapting well.
