Another trait that can change is the magical nature of half-oni, with some possess spells common to oni without need of years of study, great wings to fly upon, or the ability to regenerate their wounds rapidly in the middle of combat

Naming Traditions

Half-Oni usually take up Kantōnese names, in an attempt to fit in with the rest of society among the islands. Those who wish to not fit in ussualy take up names more in line with their oni herritage

History

Like the oni, the half-oni are unknown in their origins, but it is believed they have a similar heritage to tieflings, in that long ago some oni would sire children with mortals and the children born from these would be the half-oni. Since then the half-oni have taken a societal place similar to tieflings, where they must all prove themselves to either be better then the looks given to them by the other denizens of Kantō, or simply become outcasts and criminals to survive in the streets of the Kantō cities. However the half-oni still survive anyway they can, and recently the vilification half-oni have had to face since their beginnings is starting to waver as many people of Kantō have had time to live next to half-oni. It also helps that half-oni make for rather tough mercenaries and bodyguards
