Culture and Cultural Heritage

Goliath culture is based around strength and proving ones worth. This was how they proved themselves worthy of their new forms in the first place. Thus combat is a regular staple for the Goliaths, with their hazardous nature they live in being full of regular dangers and opportunity's for war. As such they can come off as uncaring in that they do not care for adults that cant make themselves useful or be good at fighting. However they are very caring, its just that they need to worry about the tribe more often than not. Even physically crippled Goliaths try to find ways to provide for the tribe in any way they can. They are obsessed with preforming great deeds to prove themselves as worthiest among their tribe and in all the lands. This leads to their very competitive nature in where they compete in either physical sports or duels to prove their worth. The most popular game being the Rock Toss, in where goliaths stand upon small stone stumps and toss large rocks at one another to try and force the other off the stump.

History

Goliaths are an ancient people. They come from a story told long ago, during the later time of the Age of Giants. It is said that long ago, many tribal folk sought to become as strong as giants to fight off the ones rampaging through their land. These giants had long sense stolen their kinfolk, wrecking their homes and destroying the land they gathered and hunted from. This tribe was known as the Gundi, and they traveled together to seek out the source of great power their shamans spoke of in dread whispers. The travel was long, and many of their children and weak died on the trip, but eventually they came across a great mountain where the Giant Gluvir sat. Gluvir was known as a giant that had hated his kin, for they were stupid and obsessed with worldly temptations such as lust and greed and drink. Thus when the Gundians did beseech Gluvir to grant them power, he accepted on the condition that the most beautiful and fair woman among the tribe do a feat of strength that would excite him more than any naked maiden ever could. The Gundian woman that came fourth was said to be of stunning beauty, with her name simply being known as Athalia. She was said to have, without breaking a sweat, hoist a large rock with her bare hands, and throw it with such force that it hit a mountain it split it and the 2 mountains next to it. Impressed with this feat, Gulvir was said to plead with Athalia to marry him, and she said she would only accept if he gave the power he promised. He complied, and thus the Gundians were turned into what is now known as the Goliaths, with Athalia and Gulvir passing on into legend as god like ancestors.

Historical Figures

The two figures they hold in highest reverence are Gulvir and Athalia. Both have achieved status as gods among the Goliath, said to have achieved godhood upon their wedding and ascended into the mountains in the sky. Gulvir is the God of strength, might, conflict, honor, and wisdom. Athalia was the Goddess of Hunting, Hearth, Home, Warmth, and Games.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Due to the Goliaths being now scattered about the world, many have heard tales of Goliaths but few have seen them in person. The stories say that they are a rowdy and battle hungry people, always looking to spend their coin on drink, whores, and fighting. While they do love all 3 of those, those who meet Goliaths will find that when they swear an oath of friendship to an outsider, it is a permanent life debt that they swear, and thus their devotion and loyalty is staggering.
