Biological Traits

Downcast have the blood of angels and the divine, usually being low ranking servants of gods or celestials. All Downcast are able to tap into their divine blood to enhance healing spells around them, and are said to be resistant to necrotic type attacks. Then there are 4 distinct categories of Downcast, named in the way of some completely unknowable tongue: Aurelian, Ulmyrite, Maliganti, and Galtian. Aurelian have the magical ability to heal, Ulmyrite are able to sense magic, Maliganti are able to channel celestial fury and smite their enemies, and Galtian are able to endure great pain and turmoil before dropping.

Genetics and Reproduction

Downcast reproduce sexually, and have a gestation period of around 9 months

History

It is said that long ago, the first war of the Light Pantheon agaisnt the demons happened when the world was young. It is said that the war was fierce and that some of the angels and celstials would commit grave acts of sin or cowardice in the face of the great enemy. They would be punished for this transgression and be sent down to the planet, stripped of their divine powers to humble them and to have them go on a quest of penance to regain their celestial powers. So it has been that whenever an angel of the many gods sins in some way against their master, they are doomed to be cast down from the stars and fall to the planet, to live life as a mortal.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Downcast are reclusive by nature, for their sins always weigh heavily on them. They especially only use their divine powers in times of great peril for many alchemists have found killing them adn harvesting their parts can be used in powerful potions, and for wizards rituals. Vampires may also seek out downcast to drink from tainted divine like blood, and so the predators of the downcast are many. For this reason few even know they exist, but a folk tale told by parents to their children.

Lifespan

Stripped of their immortality, the downcast nevertheless possess incredibly long lifespans, rivalling even those of elven blood. A downcast reaches maturity at the same age as a human, but can live up to 800 years old
