Barak Arim

Culture

Daredevils and adrenaline junkies, the Dwarves of Barak Arim are obsessed with flying. They have to be, for while the plane of air is incredibly dangerous, it also brings incredible wealth. Omenbronze and other valuable minerals exist in the scattered floating islands, however these are also incredibly dangerous as dragons and other creatures make their home their. Some of the metals they use have also been used to make small, light aircraft that dock in some of the bigger airships, allowing these Dwarves to keep their sky port and trade lanes even more secure. Due to its position, the Dwarves have been able to also trade with some of the local natives in the land, in return for mineral wealth. Those of Barak Arim are known to be hotshots and loose cannons, always willing to push it to the limit no matter the odds, and will find very "unique" solutions to coming out on top.   Their love for the sky leads to many becoming hotshots, but some take a far more professional outlook. Many of the greatest Astral navigators come from Barak Arim, and it is said they can practically smell wealth on the arcane winds. The Dwarves of Barak Arim also take to mercenary work for other races, finding arriving into battle descending from their endrin packs can be an intimidating prospect. Thanks to the nature of their plane and the overabundance of omenbronze, they also have access to high tech weaponry, with many barreled firearm's experimenting with a process of rapidly compressing refined omenbronze gas, turning it into focused beams that harden mid flight. These operate similar to gunpowder weaponry, though far more refined, though anyone outside of Barak Arim using this weaponry that isn't a Dwarf wont be able to operate this gear, as the Dwarves of Barak Arim have enchanted their weapons' to make sure none but their kind may use this, due to the fear of goblins getting their hands on this weaponry.

History

The day the Dwarven people fractured was a time of great uncertainty. Many did not know what would happen next, and many worried about the future. However, those Dwarves traveling to the Elemental Plane of Air were pioneers. Hailing from one of the more frontier holds (by Dwarven standards) and were always known for being a bit...unorthodox. Due to the natural climate of the Plan of Air, they hard a bit of a harder time then most other skyports to get their port up and running, however they would find great floating islands to rest on while they built their great skyport. They would have to contend with dragons and air genies, but they would weather the storm by way of their mighty air fleets. Their skyport would be made and named Barak Arim, and become a skyport of some of the best airships and shipwrights in the realms. They fly proudly to this day, with their wings having never been broken.
