Wisani
The Wisani are the people of the Greenlime Mountains, largely inhabiting the Southern Greenlime Mountains and the Coolridge Expanse. They are a tough, mountain living folk, who take their name from the highest peak in the mountains, Mount Wisani.
Wisani are seen as reclusive and stubborn, but these are common traits among many Nevokie peoples. They are extremely proud of being one of the few people who were untamed by the People's Republic of Lordania, and were heavily involved in Tersten Resistance activity.
The largest Wisani settlement is Valmora, located north of the Tersten Pass. It serves as the cultural capital of the Wisani people, with many museums and places of culture dedicated to local heroes.
Wisani are considered an insular culture, who largely stay in, or around the Greenlime Mountains. This being said, Wisani are still present across the entire planet, though mostly as minority cultures. The largest population of Wisani outside of the Greenlimes are located in the mountains of the Shank Basin.
Wisani individuals are expected to provide for their families, with no emphasis on gender-specific roles. Like most Tersteners, the Wisani place little emphasis on gender roles. The average Wisani is neither sexist nor transphobic. They believe in gender equality, and Wisani families are often extremely supportive of each other.
The Wisani are often stereotyped as being 'really into climbing and living on mountains', as well as being an insular culture of mountainbillys, distilling alcohol and celebrating into the night. These stereotypes are often harmful, and tend to lead to the Wisani continuing to remain insular.
Language
The Wisani speak a dialect of Nevadan known as Pakhrah. It is an insular language, branching away from Common Nevadan sometime in the 30s during the occupation. It is believed to have developed as a means of communicating without being understood by Nevadan-Speaking Unitarians.Dress Code
Most Wisani wear simple attire. The semi-arid climate and mountainous terrain of the Greenlines necessitate the use headscarves and stetsons, much like their Rancher cousins to the south. Every Wisani owns and maintains an excellent pair or seven of climbing boots.Customs
Mount Wisani is considered by the Wisani People to be a Sacred Mountain. It is considered taboo for non-Wisani to ascend to the summit of the mountain, and large parts of the natural forests around the mountain are protected. Similarly, it is taboo to defile or destroy any part of the mountain. The Wisani believe that the summit of the mountain is a place of immense spiritual power, and it is this power that allowed them to defy and resist the Unitarian occupation. They see themselves as being 'like the mountain', immovable and unyielding. It is extremely taboo, on pain of banishment, to associate with any Unitarian Party associates or ideologies. The Wisani take pride in the relationships with their friends and their families. Those who have been accepted by the family are often treated as one of their own. They have close support networks with each other, and it is not uncommon for whole towns and villages to support each other in times of need. They will often celebrate good times with festivities, which have led to unfair stereotypes of Wisani 'laziness'. In truth, they are simply happy to have survived into the modern day. The Wisani Symbol is used to identify its people. It is often found sewn into patches or clothing, though is largely a symbolic thing than any nationalist intent.
