Ascent

Ascent is a small town at the southern end of the Hell Vale, in the North Pearlstone Expanse. It is a small settlement connected via a dirt road and airport.  It lies at roughly 2.7km above sea level, and serves as a base camp for those attempting to climb the Pearlstone Mountains.  Due to both its altitude and isolation, most visitors arrive via air, with the roads largely serving native residents and farmers.  Unlike Hell Vale, which lies only a few miles north, Ascent is a subarctic zone, with temperatures occasionally dropping below freezing, even in summer.
It is the highest settlement in the Lawless Frontier, and a popular stopping point for tourists and mountain climbers.
