Abo
Abo is a town in The Mesa, located to the east of Citrana. Abo is the centre of Mesan mining operations, with the The People of Abo Mining Corporation being based out of the town.
Abo was founded as a prospecting town in the early years of the People's Republic of Lordania. Many mines run under and around the town. Many of these tunnels were dug with minimal care, or safety precautions, and many houses in Abo have direct connection to abandoned shafts in their basements. Following the collapse of the People's Republic, the people of Abo unionised and founded their own corporation to oversee mining operations. This has made the town very wealthy in the last few years following the discovery of gold deposits. Many people come to Abo in search of wealth, but find themselves being denied access to prospecting. The town is very protective of its communal wealth.
Demographics
Most Aboans are considered well off when compared to the average resident of the Lawless Frontier. Exclusive access to the town's gold deposits has allowed for large scale developments to take place across the town. Under the rule of the People's Republic of Lordania, many Aboans worked in the mining industry, being made to dig pointless tunnels throughout the landscape. Today, much of the mining work is left to a small, but highly trained crew. The Miners therefore are considered some of the most respected people of Abo, with significant influence in town politics.
Government
As Abo is technically a corporate town, its elected mayor is also considered the corporation's CEO. The current Foreman is Boris Afolayan. The Foreman has significant influence over the town, including the authority to decide where to allocate much of the funds obtained from the town's gold mining industry.
Geography
Abo is settled in the heartland of The Mesa. It is surrounded by mountainous terrain from the east, west, and south. The hills surrounding Abo are full of abandoned mine shafts, excavated during the years of the People's Republic. The mountains are extremely dangerous for this reason, and many people avoid them.
Abo's elevated position gives it incredible north-facing views of the Mesas and the plains surrounding it.
Natural Resources
Abo is settled on a gold deposit, many miles under the ground. Previously settled to search for valuable materials, it paid off ten-fold with the discovery of the largest gold field on Tersten to date. Most gold on the planet is dug out of the ground in Abo, before being sent to Citrana for processing, or put into the The People of Abo Mining Corporation's impressive treasury.
