Storm Eater Species in Terrus | World Anvil

Storm Eater

Storm eaters are a particularly rare species of whale that swim through the skies high above the clouds, and normally far above the heights attainable by modern airships. Sightings of these whales are so rare in fact that many believe them to be more of a myth or just the correlation of more common sky whales spotted carving through clouds during lightning storms. Nonetheless, their name comes from their apparent ability to not only carve through these storms but to consume the energy trapped within, clearing away the storm in the process. According to eye witnesses, these storm eaters then begin to glow with this trapped energy and sometimes expel it out from their blowholes as they fly on. Some zoologists believe these whales are, at least theoretically, able to travel so much higher than other sky whales due to the energy they gain from these feasts.

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

Energy from storm clouds. Other aspects of diet unknown but due to the supposed similarity of size and demeanor with other sky whales, it can be assumed storm eaters also partially subsist on Sky Krill and flying insects.
