Necrolopis

The Necrolopis was the book of the dead that were given to the first mages that later became necromancers. The book describes the teachings and ritual of a deity called Mutronum, and how the corruption from chaos is not the way to gain greater strength over death, but understanding the ways of life is how to control the bonds of death. The deity did not want his subjects to lose themselves to the chaos to chase power, but to help with the balance that all life must have death, and from all death must come life. one of the daily rituals that is described within the book is how to cleanse a dead body of corruption before it can safely be reanimated. During the God War 50,000 years ago the book's pages was scattered so that creatures of chaos was not able to get their hands on it, but each necromancer are magically drawn to the pages of the book. no one knows how many pages that the book had, or how the seemingly indestructible pages were torn out of its binding, but every necromancer seems to be blessed with a page of the book and are able to obtain others by ways of the page contest with other necromancers. Even after the contest each necromancer gets to keep their pages, but the winner page number increases by how many pages were wagered, so some speculate that Mutronum wanted the necromancer to work together to collect the book but many are power hungry and would much rather kill the losers after they get their pages. The Necrolopis is Mutronum's personal book, so each mage who has a page feels like they each hold a piece of the deity. The necromancer guild within the undead city seems to believe that they will one day be able to obtain the whole book to revive their deity, while some want to become the new deity. It is reasons like this why most necromancers are not found within the guild.
