Common Ranks

The most Common Ranks include the Foot Soldiers, Archers, and Sentinels. They make up the bulk of armies. acting on the front lines.

Foot Soldier

The Foot soldier is the most common soldier you'll find in any army no matter how big or small their forces are. You cannot have any hopes of having an army without foot soldeirs. Although they make up the majority, they're the least trained soldiers and most expendable. They're often given the worst to decent gear and may be required to bring their own weapons if the leaders are too poor to provide for them. The best weapons they'll have are generally a spear and a shield, but it'll often do the trick when you have enough soldiers.

Archer

Archers make up the supporting ranks of the army. While Foot Soldiers are dying in the fields below, archers are pelting the enemy forces from afar without worry of being attacked. But the skill to wield a bow is much more difficult than thrusting a spear. Training an Archer takes much more time an effort than training a Foot Soldier.

Sentinel

Sentinels are the eyes and ears of the army. They protect their forces against spies and assassins. These soldiers can often be found patrolling the warbase, watching from guard towers or leading a small party through enemy territory.
Some sentinels may also be proficient in the Sleath Skill. As an additional option, you may grant a +3 PRF level in Stealth to these untis.

Hunting Dog

Hunting Dogs are used along side scouts and hunters to help find food for a war party. They can also be used in small skirmishes, but with have little to no help in a mass battle.

Elite Ranks

Much more powerful soldiers and commanders include the Captain and Veteran. They're the heads of the army and ensure that every plan goes acordingly both on the war map and on the battlefield.

Veterans

Veterans are long time fighters, soldiers, and warriors. They make up cavalry, knights, king's guard, etc. They have no speciality in combat but know much of everything and train with many different weapons.

Knight

Knights are Royal and noble soldiers trained from a squire until they're the master of sword and shield. They are equiped in only the finest equipment.

Captain

Captains are the voice and leader of the army. They command anywhere from 5 to 500,000 soldiers and vary in rank and position. What the soldier learns with the blade, the Captain must learn with his voice. A Captain without a backbone will fail. And a Captain who fails cannot lead.

Assassin

The assassin is a special unit generally not used in battles and skirmishes. Instead the Assassin is used behind enemy lines and with sutble to catch the enemies off guard and kill specific targets instead of engaging in mass combat. They're masters of stealth and can be equiped with poisons and all sorts of gear if need be.

Mage

While many soldiers use swords and shields, the mage keeps to their spells and enchantments. Mages are generally hired privately or found through other means as mastering magic is extremely difficult and can take years to simply cast a few spells.
