The Middle Kingdom

New Sotafel, popularly known as the Middle Kingdom is a section of land in the middle of Heleg Parath, every kingdom borders it, making it almost impossible to defend during times of conflict, as a result it has been ruled by almost every other kingdom for a time.

The Carnens are the most recent lords of the Middle Kingdom.

Ruling Family

When Ostarion was named as the successor by his father, it would have caused a civil war, however Ostarion managed to avoid this by making a promise, he would make his brothers children the heads of New Sotafel, giving them their own realm to rule. As a result, although the middle kingdom reports to Othrond, it has it's own unofficial High Lord, currently, Lorumel Carnen.

History of the Middle Kingdom:

The middle kingdom, New Sotafel was originally a free hold like the others. It was ruled by the Monmoth family. They were attacked by the Athlassans and they lost their kingdom.

When the Athlassans rebelled and fled, the land was given to the Tendurils, it was originally offered to the Carnens but they refused not wishing to have such open land. When the Tendurils backed Aeran Glacier, during the Maelstrom, they lost the region, this time the Carnens took the land and have held it since. This region has a history of rebelling against its lords and failing.

Monmoth family rebelled just before the second island elf invasion and were roundly defeated, they were only saved because the Vanos and Culverin argued against killing the younger generation.
