Old Sotafel

General Description

The region of Old Sotafel, is one of the oldest and continuous kingdoms in Heleg Parath. The Carnens helped build Nesamir then left north discovering the beautiful pass and settled there before continuing north and building the city of Sotafel. When the Carnens were granted control of the Middle Kingdom they would refer to their land as Old Sotafel. Crowning the Middle Kingdom as New Sotafel.

Old Sotafel is a very plain land, it is full of mountains and hills and has been ravaged by war. There are two entrances to the realm, the Bloody pass and Reoite forest.

Ruling Family

The Carnens are like their region, one of the oldest Snow Elven families to have settled in Heleg Parath. They have turned Old Sotafel into a fortress that is almost impossible to penetrate. Known for their fighting prowess, the Carnens often command the armies, but also contribute the most well trained soldiers to the Glacier armies.

Carnen Waste

The Carnen waste is a large swathe of land in the north of Old Sotafel. Once known as Othelborn, this land was originally a large meadow like land, still frozen but beautiful. Now however it is a wasteland, where the animal life is almost none existent and plant life struggles to grow.

Othelborn was once a thriving region that had several cities. Many of which are now ruins along the paths of the Carnen Waste. Only 2 cities have survived, first Talero, the home to the Dukes of Othelborn. When the waste began to overpower the cities, the nobles and their people fled to Talero where they were welcomed. The city is run by a council with representatives of every lord who lost their city to the waste.

The second city is Cathair, an ancient city of forbidden knowledge it has struggled in the last few decades after the Elentirs attack, but out of stubbornness, it's citizens refuse to take up the invite to join the commune city of Talero.

The cause of Othelborns environmental change is wildly unknown. However, there are popular opinions. A group of adventurers believe they may have figured it out. Having discovered several Taireltons that were left open, the surrounding land had become corrupted in a similar way to the Carnen Waste.
