Elf
At least three known species of elf exist.
Alfar or Flame Elves
These elves look similar to high elves described in the Player's Handbook. Most come from the ancient lands of Lantica where their broken kingdoms rise again amid conquest and blood sacrifice. Descendants of powerful Fey Lords, they retain the dread sidhe's penchant for warfare and thirst for expansion. While their once-great empire was shattered when Lantica itself was broken into islands, the Alfar endure. Now embracing brutality along with arrogance, most alfar consider other races things to be enslaved at best and chattels to be sacrificed to their gods at worst. It's possible the Alfar have connections to the Wilds and are manipulated by still greater and older fey courts half a world away. Examples of Alfar names include: Female: Berlenith, Dulenira, Imelene, Jersydra, Nillevistra, Relidril, Sabina, Vilivistra Male: Deralid, Ekrinuld, Jysinul, Meralenid, Myrelvid, Nopelared, Sinilriv, VerniliredSylvan Elves or Wood Elves
These elves look similar to wood elves described in the Player's Handbook. They are descended from fey that never sided with the great Courts of the Sidhe. Independent and freedom-loving, these elves can be found dwelling within the hearts of ancient forests where they gather for mutual protection and to preserve the forests from the ravages of the Miasma and from over-harvesting by foreign people. Their relationship with other groups can vary from friendly to hostile. Examples of Sylvan names include: Female: Anariel, Clarinien, Faraneth, Geliriel, Imalwe, Melediel, Ranewen, Rimoloth Male: Arevad, Calenor, Elbenarond, Finedan, Iniros, Lorethir, Ninthalrod, RilasadEladrin or Wilder Elves
When the great Fey Courts retreated to the realms called the Wilds, they took many elves with them. Some say these elves, the Eladrin, are elder, more primal versions of elves seen today. Others say that Eladrin are the result of long exposure to the chaotic magic wielded by the Sidhe. Others say the Eladrin are the Sidhe. Only one truth is agreed upon -- the Eladrin will never tell. Examples of Eladrin names include: Female: Aelawen, Belanian, Earolwe, Lendiledel, Lithenrial, Sareviel, Silasel, Thirinien Male: Aerinion, Berenos, Crisarion, Ithilam, Mithafal, Serinor, Sindir, TherinionLanguages
