Overview
The Runic Architects Guild stands as a separate form of Architects Guild. This is due to the Runic Nature of the Architects trade in those cities and towns nearest to the Dwarven Kingdom. Dwarves have taught some Runic Magic to the Architects in nearby cities to facilitate faster construction.
Runic architecture uses a mixture of Human and Dwarven elements but focuses on using Runes to shape and control the materials used in construction. A runic block will hold its shape for as long as the rune on it is untouched. This allows for more creative buildings but also endangers them if the rune is ever defaced or removed. Therefore all Runic based buildings and walls have the rune hidden INSIDE the block somewhere.
Runic Architects are more adventurous in their buildings.
Dynamic Runic Buildings
Runic Buildings under the effects of some runes can morph to fit the situation. On a sunny day the building reconstructs the roof to be more open or ventilated. On a wet day it extends awnings. When closed the Building is simply brick - with no entrance. When open the building generates openings for customers or users. In war the building can fortify itself towards the line of combat.
Runic Architects Training
A runic architect is given access to some of the Runic powers that Dwarves have long held as secret. These Runes can be used to alter physical substances, and are a closely guarded secret. Some stone shaping Runes are taught to non-dwarves but no others are normally even spoken of, let alone taught. Rumors include stories of Runic forms for metals and even some hides, as well as stone and earth.
A Runic Architect can over time learn the runes for:
Stone Shaping - limited rock to mud spell that allows the shaping of the stone easily.
Stone Healing - as above but to return the strength of the original stone if damaged (limited)
Stone Telling - like magic mouth - it allows the stone to complete tasks in certain conditions.
