The Democratic Socialist Federation of Yytuskia (tr. Demokratische Sozialistische Föderation der Yytuskia) is a large Bicameralism Parliamentarian Confederation on the southern tip of Zestrora. It is the largest political entity of the Northen Confederation, or the Nordkonföderation, alongside other members such as The People's Worker's Republic of Helvana, The Ormat Union, the Republic of Lutrea, and the Annexed State of Western Talion.
Yytuskia, or the Federation, is a confederation of eleven states: Bredefort, Heerhoven-Osterzell, Laufenstätten, Marchschlag, Mannerheim, Münchensiedeln, Richtenkastel, Schärzis, Stralborn, Wagemaar, and Winterfelden, respectively. There are also two city-states: the Hauptstadt-Mühlengarten and the Forschungsgemeinschaft Großkrater. The country in its entirety covers roughly 6,190,382 square kilometers of land.
A military thalassocracy due to the government's large focus on naval power, Yytuskia is primarily a large global supplier of meat-based products, technology, various rare minerals, as well as petroleum. Thus the large navy is vital to protect the important shipping routes, as well as the waters surrounding Zestrora. Minor nations on the continent, including members of the Northern Confederation, usually supply on Yytuskian naval power to safely ship goods through the dangerous seas close by.
The head of state of the Federation is currently Kaiser Ottokar von Fürstenmold III, the royal monarch that presides over both the Yytuskian Upper House of the State, and the Lower House of the People, as well as acting as the ceremonial figurehead for many cultural events in the country. The Premierfuhrer, the highest seat of office in parliament, is currently the leader of the Socialist Democrats Party Benjamin Seidenstücker, with the Vizeführer being Martin Schor of the same political party.
The Federation, with its population of roughly 163,810,220 citizens, is one of the larger countries in the north-eastern hemisphere, but it is by no means the largest.
Yytuskia is the co-founding member of the Northern Confederation, alongside the Ormat Union, and is the founding member of the Western Air and Nautical Surveillance Treaty Organization (WANSTO) which is affectionally known as Winston.
Known for its rich and militarised culture, its high annual education budget, and humanitarian efforts in the western hemisphere, Yytuskia has continuously been the home of influential and successful artists, philosophers, musicians, sportspeople, entrepreneurs, and other influential scientists, engineers, and inventors.

Etymology

The term "Yytuskia" has surprisingly little to do with any major geopolitical groups within the region or the nation's history. Instead, the term "vvtuskia" - or more properly "vvtus kila" - is an old Echtemönche phrase about going to war: "Be wary of conflict, but be ready". This phrase speaks highly of the Yytuskian view on conflict of any kind, as both the military and defensive ideals hold firm within the nation's mind.

History

Pre-Condeferation

The Federation's history before the Article of Confederation is surprisingly well documented for the fractured state that it was during the time known as the Pre-confederation Era. Most of the information of this time (1000 BCE - 100 CE) is mostly small amounts of writing or known through oral history, but historians can build a mostly complete timeline of the area up until the early 100s. While the various groups, clans, and states had their own deities and mythos per them, most have been lost as the oral stories that were passed down have disappeared over the years.
After the year 100 CE however, more and more of those histories had been written down as monasteries and chapels introduced the written word to the masses. This helped modern-day scholars learn about the Old World's mythologies and histories, and piece together Yytuskia's varied, and marbled past. It is from these written accounts that the history of Yytuskia's most-known ethnic group: the Echtemönche, and their leader, the Echtkaiser Juna Bach. It also details the history of the fledgling clan of the Cattabbot area in their ages-old wars against their rivals, or the story of the Hero of Baal who brought together the Empire of Baal that lasted from 250 BCE to 750 CE.
