Odis, the Soul Warden

Odis, the soul warden. Keeper of souls of who fear death, due to unfinished business or fear of being forgotten. He offers them a chance to remain, but at a heavy cost. They must serve him until he deems their services no longer needed. Their service is eternal unless they are able to convince him that they truly deserve to move on. Only one other individual has ever been offered this chance, yet many worship him in the hopes that they themselves could be deemed worthy.  

3 Tenets:

  • Strive to live a life where you will not be forgotten
  • Honor and remember the dead
  • Do not let death surprise you, always have a watchful eye for it can easily sneak up on you
 

Relationships:

They have a relationship with Samsara, the Shepherd of the End. Odis intercepts souls to be trapped in eternal servitude and feebly hoping for rebirth that will likely never occur. There is a legend of a hero who was able to convince Odis to grant him access to his body.  

Holiday:

Birthdays. At the start of each year followers of Odis are expected to write about their life in a journal. This is in the hopes that if they were to have an untimely demise that there would remain a written script of their existence for the hopes that someone would find and relish in their accomplishments. Parents are expected to keep journals for their children at birth and to write it for them until they are able to do this on their own.
