Binx Silkstream
Background
Binx grew up in Golds Burrow. His lineage was one of the original settlers of Golds Burrow.
He stepped foot into the crime business at a very young age (Age 14). Binx had a knack for talking to people, and he knew how to get people to say things that they shouldn’t be saying. He learned about a more fruitful way to make money and it gave him excitement doing it. He was a good negotiator and naturally he was able to make illicit deals for shady individuals under their behalf. Whether it was selling drugs or catching a snitch, he was very skillful at dealing with unwanted pests. Not only that, he was very skilled in concocting poisons that would make someone ill for a week (Non-lethal of course).
This helped to encourage individuals to pay their dues to the local gang. He learned many of these skills from his partner Thydus. Thydus was a highly skilled alchemist and Binx showed a huge curiosity in learning about poisons. Mixing poisons reminded him of mixing drinks back at his family Tavern. Binx’s first job for the gang was to poison a local baker's goods to deter customers from shopping at his bakery. Binx was able to produce a brew that gave all his customers food poisoning for a week. His shop lost a lot of customers and he ended up paying up the debts he owed faster than they expected. This was Binx's huge break for the gang, and they began giving him more tasks of similar fashion.
Despite always his illicit business doings, Binx still cares deeply for his family. He mainly does a lot of these shady jobs to keep his family protected. He does a deal or two and the gang makes sure nobody touches the Silkstreams.
Binx has always aspired to move his family into one of the upper class districts. He knows that despite them being able to survive in Golds Burrow, there are better ways of living out there. Not only that he yearns to perhaps one day be the one calling all the shots. Instead of paying for protection, he wants others to pay him. Not having to depend on lowly thugs for safety is something he wishes to get out of quickly.
Binx enjoys telling others what to do. He still has a lot to learn about what it means to be a leader. He can be rash and sometimes he takes unnecessary risks to get things done quickly. One instance where he misunderstood a situation was when his lack of carefulness got his partner caught. It was a simple job, slip some drugs into someone’s food so that they get in trouble at work and then get out. However, Binx's overzealousness got the better of him and he decided to try out a new concoction which he believed would keep this man out of work for a week. However, Binx misjudged his brew and instead it created a cloud of smoke which alerted the residents. Binx was unseen, but his partner was identified and eventually he was sent to prison for Binx’s mishap. His partner took the fall for Binx’s mistake.
Binx still works for the gang up to this point. His siblings are well aware of what he does and they frown upon his work. His parents of course are fully aware of what Binx does as well, but they act as if they know nothing of the sort. They understand the need for what Binx does but they are hopeful that he will keep himself out of serious trouble. Binx also enjoys tinkering with objects as a hobby. Binx worships Tai Phon, The Father of Monsters and Zephyrus the Silentfoot.
