Amemnon, Sage of the Underdark

Amemnon was the understudy of a great Beholder, one who spends its life scheming and working to gain control of the nation of Pernium’s End. Amemnon’s role is one of subterfuge and dirty politics, always working behind the scenes, gaining favour, swinging votes, influencing the balance of power. Under his influence, Amemnon has the Cult of the Queen, members of the local Clergies, Councilmen/Councilwomen, Merchants, and Smugglers. Amemnon’s influence is greatest in the town of Fetterloc. Here, his Cult works in secret, with regular meetings beneath the Noble Rest Inn. Their members include a member of the Town Council, several Town Guard, members of the Clergy, ‘ladies of the night’, lower class citizens, and figureheads in the underbelly of the town. Amemnon detests working with the lower class, and thus his presence is only ever directly felt at the top, using a trickle-down effect to get the rest in line. The main goal being to create a communication network between as many pivotal figures as possible, allowing acute control of the society. Amemnon’s true goal differs somewhat from his master’s, seeking an artefact of great power to allow his Apotheosis. He wants to become a god of his people, a new Drow deity. Although selfish and arrogant, Amemnon seeks the rebirth of his race, and their subsequent rise to power. His conquest not one of domination, but rather to be integrated into the current society, untwisting his people, restoring their humanity and status in the world above. The conflict; he believes in an “End Justifies the Means” approach, and has left many a kingdom in ruin in his attempt to find this artefact. Making it very likely for him to do the same, despite his best intentions for the nation of Pernium’s End.
