session 7

General Summary

Overview:

With Hespori Moss defeated, the party was able to continue travelling across Thalin’s Bay and finally make it to the Region of Morah. Here, the group travelled to the city of Ta Lin with hopes of finding the secret to defeating Gorm once and for all.

Notable Things That Happened:

• The party sailed from the fishing platform where they ended Session 5 to a port in the northern part of Morah. Along the way, they stopped at an underwater library managed by a selkie historian named Jeriah. Jeriah answered some of the party's history questions as a thank-you for stopping the Hespori. He also gave the party a sending stone so they could contact him anytime.
• The party traveled across the Stone Belt to reach the city of Ta Lin. Along the way, they were ambushed by a group of bandits. One of these bandits was a notably frightening man named Fenris the Feared. The party intimidated the bandits into running away and later found all the bandits—except for Fenris—dead on the Stone Belt.
• The party entered Ta Lin and found a survivor of Gorm’s previous massacre named Rose Lannister. She revealed that her sister had discovered that the key to defeating Gorm lay within the Bethosian Apostle Archives. Tragically, Rose’s sister was killed by Gorm before she could enter the archive.
• After attempting to purchase goods from the local Rusty Post, the party discovered they had been banned from the establishment. The reason for their ban stemmed from Session 5 when Sir Clancey robbed the Rusty Post branch in Baethorpe. After that, the party was banned from all Rusty Post branches. Luckily for them, the manager of Ta Lin’s branch promised to clear their name if they helped him kill Scurrius the Rat Lord
• The party traveled deep into Ta Lin and found the rat king’s lair. They snuck through the cave and eventually encountered King Scurrius, who appeared more slothful than menacing.
• The party was fully prepared to kill Scurrius when, suddenly, Carl the Kind appeared. He taunted Lenny the Fortuitous, who had been glimpsing Carl around Ta Lin throughout the session, before using magic to enrage Scurrius. Carl then dissipated, and the once slothful rat king now stood ready to attack.
• The party fought off King Scurrius and took his head as proof of the kill. They then returned to Ta Lin, but not before destroying the entire rat colony with an explosive trap.
• The party went to the Rusty Post and had their name cleared as a reward.
• A commotion broke out near Rose Lannister's house. Upon investigation, the party found Gorm attempting to kill Rose. Injured from their fight with Scurrius, the party was unable to defeat Gorm. In response, Rose consumed one of the party's magic beans in an attempt to subdue Gorm. The bean, which triggered wild magic upon consumption, caused a fireball spell to erupt from Rose's body. The explosion destroyed the building and pinned Gorm under a beam, but at the cost of Rose's life.
