Terra

Terra is Earth, only it is Earth in the year 2082. The entire face of the earth has changed drastically, both physically and in the scale of geopolitics which dominate the globe today. The world's population has consolidated into two major powers, minor powers few and far between. The two major powers are in a state of constant war, nuclear arsenals around the world being depleted, yet very few areas were hit. Most were intercepted and the conflict quickly devolved into a prolonged struggle, fueled by a constant supply of robotic warriors and fusion energy. Resources are dwindling as the wars rage on.   The United States declared war on all of their neighbors, quickly sweeping through the Americas, consolidating those that they could, creating puppets from those that they could not. The country became known as the United Americas Federation. From the outside the country appears to be full of prosperity, life filled with bliss, but those are the lives led by the leaders and controllers of the corporate conglomerates that control all actions in the "democracy."   The Eastern Defense Bloc form days after the United States began its campaign for domination. China, Russia, North Korea, and Vietnam dissolved their borders, quickly claiming the land around them, sweeping the Asian continent and outlying islands with their armies. India and Indonesia fell within hours of being invaded. These countries installed a psuedo-communist regime, every facet of government controlled by four powerful people.   The European Union maintained autonomy through sheer tenacity. When the Russian Army appeared at their door, the EU pushed them back to the Ural mountains. These mountains formed a new curtain, one made of steel and stone, protecting the neutral nation from its aggressive neighbors to the East and West. Australia is shrouded in a mist of secrecy. Those who visit are only allowed to roam Sydney, a wall erected around the quarantine area to prevent spies. The home of the original androids, strange sounds and explosions are sometimes heard from leagues away.   In this period of strife the Underworld is more powerful than ever. Smugglers, hit men, mercenaries, and the occasional human trafficker can be found in every society on the planet. However, not all of the Underworld is as mundane as it seems. Mages and warlocks, those who draw their power from the ley lines which cross Terra in a tangled web affect those around them. These activities are hidden from humanity, discovery meaning a repeat of the Medieval Witch Trials. Tales of sorrow and blood would rule Terra, enemies united against what they perceive as a common threat.
